just because something charges you for speed and simplicity doesnt stop it being "moneysaving" - if i took 1 hr out of my day to bag up coins and go to the bank i cost myself time (and that = money)
its cheaper for me to use the coin machine and get back to work.0 -
Say you deposit £20 - they will give you a voucher for £18.42
The cashier will then give you at least £3.42 of it back in change
Kinda defeats the object IMHO.0 -

Going to the bank can cost money too. bus fare, car parking, wear and tear on the car.0 -
We've got a big plastic bottle for storing little change.
Don't know when we are going to change it up (it really belongs to bf), but I thought banks only had to take a certain amount of bags at a time, something ridiculous like 5 bags. We have got loads more than that!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.810 -
our bank would only take up to 5 bags of change as said above, for teh convenience and reduced time to count it 7.5% is nothing personally, it would take me an age to count out £100 in shrapnel, for £7.50 the machine can do it0

We have been saving up loose change for AGES and have accumulated quite a lot of money (for our holiday in March 07) but I am struggling to change it.
I bank with Halifax who only take 5 bags at a time - we have nearly £600!!!
Can anyone advise - I don't really want to use a change sorter in Asda as they take a percentage don't they??0 -
my DH has his own business but they get charged for every pay in and extra for bags :mad:0

I've got a huge amount of coins, both coppers and silver and am wanting to pay it into the bank. I've tried to get some plastic coin bags from the Post Office, but they wouldn't give me any!
Is there anywhere else I can try to get the bags from as I've heard that some banks charge you for them:eek:0 -
hi - got loads from Lloyds the other day, they just asked if I banked with them & I said yes I don't, they were just the nearest). No charge.0
