Sometimes you enter competitions for one specific prize and end up with a second/runner-up prize ( or even the 1st prize!) which is not what you were after! Personally, my attitude is if I can't use it or my family can't use it then is it really worth going for? I do know however some people have entered comps and from the time they have entered until the time of the draw/prize allocation their circumstances have changed, but who knows what might happen in life :D

    High Poptart :hello:

Personally I only tend to enter comps where I would actually love to win the prize or I could use it as a pressie for one of my family/friends. Don't tend to enter for festival tickets as it isn't something we would enjoy doing & only enter for DVDs or books that I really really want - this way someone who could be desperate for it could then win :)

There are loads of comps on here & even being selective I enter loads - I haven't entered against the T & C of a comp, if they want a Financial Advisor then I won't enter for example - but if it's a prize I would want & it doesn't say I can't enter then I will :)

Good luck with your comping :)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

I too tend to enter only those that i will use, or can go towards a christmas or birthday present for family...i have to admit when i first started about 4 years ago i entered nearly everything, but soon realised there was no point to things i could not use...for holidays i look at the terms and dates to see if i can go if not dont enter.

    good luck
    :D
  • I don't enter any comps aimed at a specific demographic such as students or those that are aimed at over 50's etc and I only enter ticket comps that I think I will manage to attend. i have just recently started entering baby comps but thats just because my sisters baby is due any minute now :D
  • i like many of the above only enter comps aimed at my family. i am housebound so i dont enter holidays or tickets, unless it is a theme park and hubby can take the kids. i also dont enter dvd or cds as i would not use them... i dont want things i cant use but i am grateful for any wins.... i used to enter them all but it took too much time and i started to get things i was just giving away... so now i have narrowed it down and i can cope with the time i take and i know if i do win i will be a happy bunny.....

I only ever enter comps for stuff that I want or I have a certain person in mind that I can give it to, I always try to check the T&C's so I have no probs if I do win.

I have noticed that some seem to enter everything and anything, I don't see the point: why get wedding show tickets, etc., if you are already married, that kind of thing.

I do sometimes find it frustrating not to enter comps that have first prizes I can't use but I would love the 2nd, eg., holiday is 1st prize, wii is 2nd.

I also don't waste my time entering comps that are a lot of effort for a totally poxy prize, eg., a 30 minute survey for a £10 voucher, especially if I see a lot have entered, I just don't see the point, my time is too precious.

I don't enter comps where I don't want the prize because I don't have time - I find it hard enough keeping up with the ones I DO want! However I don't have a problem with people winning stuff to sell - its none of my business how people keep themselves afloat finincially, and if selling a prize enables a hard up family to meet their needs, that's OK by me. Entering comps for tickets you don't want seems mean though, they probably come with insufficient time to re-sell, and someone else would probably be thrilled with them.
  • Slightly off subject, but....how many comps per day do you all enter?
