Many thanks, YorkshireBoy, for that swift and extremely helpful response.

Yes, it has always been late evening when I have tried to apply.

I will try again in the daytime. Thanks again.

Just tried to aplly for this saver account. Martin's email said 6.50 % (1.5% bonus for first year), but on their website, did not find any reference to 6.50% or 6.25% or any bonus interest.

    It says:
Rates of up to 5.00% Gross / AER !

Tried their freephone number on the apply link and thats always seems to be busy..

Also the clubcard is in my name but I wish to open the account in my wife's. Would it accept the clubcard for points?

    Cheers..

I think the 6.5% account is the internet saver, the 5% one is the instant access savings account (with ATM card)

grrrr - applied for one of these 3 weeks ago - they still haven't cashed my cheque. I only opened it in an emergency to get rid of some of my savings from Halifax. I was disappointed that you couldn't open it with an electronic transfer but by cheque only. Sent them my cheque 2 weeks ago and the money is still in the Halifax - lucky it didn't go bust or I'd have been livid with Tescos!

I have opened an account before with this promotion and closed it after getting the points. I also have a Tesco Clubcard Plus Account.

Will I still qualify as a new customer?
  • Hello,

I have already tried twice to apply for an Internet Saver, but after I have filled in all the details of the 1st stage of the application, there is a screen appearing with the code of a technical failure.

Has anybody experienced the same kind of trouble? Is it related with the time of the day and week?

    Will

have opened one in last week. I suggest keep trying diff links on line to get through.

After the account opens then there's a further palaver with signatures -but points will be awarded once opened
  • sent off cheque and account application form on 06th november, needless to say cheque still not been cashed.

the closing date to have the a/c opened by to qualify for the clubcard points bonus of 12th november has now passed.so i wonder if tescos will honor these applications. why should i be penalized because they cant cope with number of applications

Just received my card reader a few days after receiving the internet card and pin. Got everything within the (15?) day time limit, but loads of problems beforehand registering, etc. and the whole procedure has taken 6 weeks.

One more thing to bear in mind with the internet account is that interest is credited annually in March. There's no option to take it monthly, so please bear this in mind.
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS
