To try and answer my own question, from what I remember for most purchases it is worth 1% (difficult to find this essential fact from Tesco)

Seems the best deal is £5,000 to get 1,500 points=£15 so relatively insignificant although 6.25% interest is generally good value.

The same offer applies to the Instant Saver as well
Do you mean Instant Access Savings?

Where have you seen the promotion? In-store leaflet? Is this one per household or one per person?

I wonder whether I will qualify again as I already did the Internet Saver via Tesco Points in April.

    Dagobert,

I've made 4 phone calls and it's been 3 to 1 in favour of the incentive being paid out on both types of account for the same customer. I've noted the names of the 3 CSA's who said it would be. ;)

2 of the CSA's I spoke to suggested making the Instant Access savings account application by telephone to "improve your chances".

I opened my Internet Saver earlier this year without supplying my clubcard details (because it took them 7 weeks to send me a card, and I wanted the £20 from cashbackkings before it was pulled!), and I intend to open one of each account now...2nd Internet Saver online and Instant Access via telephone, each time supplying my clubcard number.

The clubcard points promotion is restricted to one account per household.
That's what the leaflet said in April.

    Hello.
Is it the initial deposit that you put in that gives you the points, or the total in the account at a certain date?

The total balance as of the end of November I think... on the site somewhere, and also in the leaflets in store.

    Thanks ISOFA.

Couldn't find the details on the website. They make these things difficult to find, don't you think??

Also, I tend to cut and run whilst I'm shopping, so don't often look at the leaflets.

Just to confirm re. the extra clubcard point bonuses - it's definitely based on the cleared balance as of 30th November, but the account must have been opened between 18th Sept and 12th Nov.

I applied a few days ago online, went through all the screens, didn't get a final confirmation, just took me to a screen to "find out about other accounts", although earlier screens did say details would be posted.

Anyone successfully opened one recently and received forms via the post?

I have been trying to apply for a Tesco Internet Saver account for three days now.

After the initial page asking whether I am an existing customer, all I get is this page:

"Savings Account Applications are currently unavailable. Please try again later."

But when I do try again later, the same thing always happens.

Has anyone managed to get in?

And is this an example of what someone said earlier - that they have had considerable difficulty trying to operate a Tesco Internet Saver account online (unable to log in, money not transferred properly)?

Any advice on the pros and cons of opening this account will be greatly appreciated, please.

Like RBS/NatWest, I believe they don't take applications after 21:45 hours. Try again earlier in the evening.

Never experienced the above. The only 'issue' for me has been the long wait (3-4 weeks) for a card-reader to set up outgoing payments. Then again, during this wait period telephone requested transfers were available.

Pros: Good rate, Faster Payments (in and out), Clubcard points (4x deals mean a £5,000 balance on 30.11.08 is worth £60), etc.

Cons: Wait for card-reader, haven't yet found a geographic number (that works) for 08457 104010.
