It happens every year for me!!

I'm not sure if its my useless university admin or the actual SLC, its probably the latter because when I went in to register last Monday I was told I wasn't actually a student on the course id been doing for a whole year??!?! :mad:

Neither my son or daughter have had theirs paid into their bank accounts yet. Have had a terrible time trying to find out why - simply have been passed from pillar to post.
The Student Finance Wales helpline blame the huge amount of enrolments and they haven't been able to cope.
Student Loans Glasgow were no better with advice. They just said it's not their fault as they just pay out when told to.
Neither of the Finance departments in the Universities they attend are available as 'they are too busy enroling'.
Both son and daughter applied via the internet well before the application cut off dates. Son is returning 3rd year and daughter a first year. A disgraceful service from Student Finance Wales this year.

Pretty much the same problem. got fed up this morning so called the SLC in absolute tears (I have a child, two cats, one dog, one bird, 4 small fluffies and fish to take care of) but they were completly unmoved despite the fact I know the college have sent confirmation FOUR times now. Her payment schedule from Student Loans said the first payment would be on the 22 September but it is now 25 September.

I got mine on the 28th August - first day of my year. Is she a first year? If so, did she register in time to trigger the payment?

Are you sure you are due your bursary now? I know it varies from Uni to Uni but most don't pay bursaries until a few months in. I don't get mine paid until Jan and April.

we get ours monthly on the same day as our student loan payment. Checked with SAAS and i don't have it because they've lost my bank details.

I would blame the SLC personally, but then again I don't know if either the college or the SLC are completely blameless in all of this.....

Just called the SLC and their system is going to be down for maintanance until Monday.....hmmmm I think I was told this last week too........So even if they did receive confirmation of my enrollment tomorrow (which I doubt) they cannot do anything til Monday and even then the money could take til Weds or Thurs to arrive.

Who fancies going to Glasgow and staging a sit down protest outside Bothwell Street?

You must be joking. I know the SLC are incompetent but surely they can't be that incompetent. How can they even think about taking the system down for maintenance for a week during the busiest time of the year for payments being confirmed and paid. They really are stupid, someone needs to sort this bunch of idiots out and quickly.

They have around 6 months every year when they don't have to do a lot yet they never think to do this maintenance then, they always choose the busiest time of year for them to do it. A similar thing happened last year the website was down all the time during August and Early Sept whilst they did maintenance yet they never learn from their mistakes. I think they must get kicks out of !!!!ing students off. They are meant to have a new site for next years applications and they have already managed to muck that up as it was meant to open in September and now its changed to Autumn.

Nope, unfortunately I is not joking, I wish I was then maybe I could have a decent nights sleep for once.
