Just did a search on this thread to see if it had been mentioned before.
HORSERADISH SAUCE
Surprised to see it on the AVOID list ... unless Tom III likes his mild, bland or perhaps creamed.
Or maybe it has been replaced with a new brand or recipe since 7th October 2008 (unlikely)
Whatever, ALDI >>> BRAMWELLS HORSERADISH SAUCE = FANTASTIC
Currently just 35p (reduced from 59p) for a 170g jar.
There's actually 3 Bramwells varieties in the 35p offer - also Mint Sauce and Tartare Sauce (can't comment on how good they are)
BUT the HORSERADISH SAUCE ? WOW !
As per the title of that 1980's disco hit .... it's
HOT !
HOT !
HOT !
This is the best we've ever had.
If you like it to clear your nasal passages and occasionally take your breath away, this is the stuff for you.
I just hope the 2 jars we've had are not a "bad batch" where the recipe "went wrong" and too much horseradish was put in by mistake.
I hope the blood & guts & ooooomph! that this stuff has is perfectly normal and will continue to be the same jar after jar for years to come !

We have been shopping at Lidl for the past few months but in the last 2 weeks or so prices have gone through the roof.
At the same time the quality of the fruit and meat sems to have gone downhill.
We did our shopping this week at B&M, Cooltrader and home bargains, then got our fruit and veg from the greengrocer.
Saved a fortune, milk was only £1.05 for 2 litres at cooltrader
If SEMI-SKIMMED is your choice of brew then currently it is only 86p for 2 litres at ALDI.
Actually it comes in the 1 litre containers for just 43p - don't know of anywhere cheaper at the minute.
It even just beats the 2% stuff at Sainsbury's which is £1 for 4 pints

Lidl's Herbal Daily Shampoo is lovely, the smell is gorgeous, like Timotei. It's cheap for a 500ml bottle. Also their pasta sauce is nice.0

Aldi's Butter biscuits are delicious and 99p a big packet. They do a wholemeal variety as well
Aldi also had chocolate bars on special offer on Saturday - 69p for 5 small bars instead of £1.29 and it's nice stuff.0 -

Just don't confuse the twoPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I know this isn't food, but it's still good value!
Aldi are selling 40-gladioli bulbs at my local store for 98p. This is so much cheaper than the usual gardening outlets. Hopefully, they'll fill my postage-stamp garden with colour and will keep going for years!!!!!0 -
LIDL..."Glenfell" pack of 4 frozen chicken pies, they were ONE POUND :jwhen I bought some about a week ago.
My lot are very particular about their pies & these got a thumbs up from them so they must be good

Hi! Things that we have tried and liked from Aldi include:
Norpak butter
Bacon
Baguettes
Dreemy chocolate bars (like mini Milky Ways)
Snowballs (in tub) - in fact have liked all the choc/biscuits we've tried from Aldi
All of the fruit/veg we've tried from here so far - peppers, onions, kiwi fruit, apples, etc
Yoghurts & fromage frais
Cheese slices were ok for the price
My OH loves the Carlos stonebaked pizzas (the rectangular ones)
Also liked the lasagne in the fresh section, its not my fave but you do get a huge amount and OH wolfed it down!
Red Thunder (fake red bull. Not very good for you I know but if you're going to drink it anyway might as well save some pennies! I switched from drinking Red Bull to this & now prefer it plus it is so much cheaper!)
Face moisturiser - my mum & I both use this now!
Tampons!
Non Bio washing powder
Tayiapa (sp?) fish fillets from frozen section - we tried the one with sweet chilli butter, was very nice & will try the other (lime?) one also
I think that is all for now but looking forward to trying some more from all your recommendations! Great thread!DF Reward Pot £16/£1100 -

Aldi - not so good
Brie/camembert - may just be my luck but they never seem to ripen
The reason they wont ripen is that they are pasteurised products - you need to buy at least a thermised product to get ripening, or go the whole hog and buy unpasteurised (for example Brie De Meaux).
