We can all feel grumpy when at work for whatever reason. If you're professional you don't take it out on your customers. Doesn't matter what the job is.

Agreed! Most people are not like that anyway, if they were irritated by their employers that is nothing to do with the customers.
There is a really lovely girl often on the checkout at our local Lidl, (Preston) always pleasant and polite and never rushes you. Even when she was extremely pregnant and clearly in discomfort she always had a smile and a joke, I hope Lidl realise the value of such people. I have never found the staff of Lidl to be grumpy or unpleasant, Aldi Preston (Deepdale) however, is a different matter...
Some people are naturally grumpy no matter what job they are doing! :p
  • My local Lidl always seems to have nice staff too and when I've forgotten something they run off and get it for me with a smile. Maybe you were just unlucky at your local store?
  • LIDL PARMESAN

If the reasonably priced block of parmesan from Lidl seems oversized, cut it up into 1" cubes and freeze in small food bags - take out of the freezer a few minutes before grating and it does the job perfectly

nyone having trouble with Lidl's Formil wash tablets ?

We have a place in Spain with a Zanussi washing machine & a place in the UK (hard water areas, both) & I use Formil wash tablets from Lidl's in both machines.

Lately both types (for whites & coloureds) are not breaking up very well & I'm having to remove hard chunks from the dispensers. They are kept in their boxes with cupboards.

Wondered if I'm the only one experiencing this problem. I'll need to try another brand if it continues. I've resorted to putting tabs inside a plastic bag & breaking them up sometimes or lose up to half a tablet at times.

    Aldi

Washing Up Cloths - These are by Power Force and are a 3 pack of chunky cloths. They are exactly the same as the ones that Lakeland Limited stock! They are second to none, I throw them in the washing machine to clean tem after use and they keep on keeping on. Still no holes fab product.
Dog Food (big cans) - my two absolutely love them and they are a few pence cheaper than Tesco.
    Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese
    Coleslaw
Coffee Albrecht - Made by Jacobs in Germany!
    Biscuits and cakes.
    Jams & Honey
Fabric conditioner the one in a pink container smells lovely and does a good job

    Lidl

    Tomatoe Puree - 29p compared with Tesco's @ 44p no difference
    Conserve Jams Maribel - wonderful
Fruit and Vegetables - fresh no issues at all and even better when on half price
Iron Bru - Theirown make is Iron Brew but I can't tell any diffference
    Cloudy Lemonade - really nice
Mozarella Cheese - same as Aldi no issues
Dog Food - theirs is called Gerodog and is made by the same firm who do the one for Tesco and Sainsburys.
Sausages, Bacon and Gammon - The gammon is really NICE
W5 Dishwasher tablets - voted a Which magazine Best Buy
W5 Dishwasher salt - salt is salt surely so why do supermarkets charge premiums?
W5 washing up liquid - again another one in the top three of Which magazines' Best Buy awards
    W5 Rinse Aid - 1 litre for £1.95 compared to Tesco's 500ml for £1.79
W5 Window Cleaner - it does a really good job especialy getting fly poo marks off uPVC white windows
Dried Herbs - not a huge choice I grant you but it is well less than half price of the stores
    Black Peppercorns - 59p @ Lidl £1.59 in Tesco's and no difference
    Balsamic Vinegar
    Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    Basmati Rice

Hand Cooked Crisps - Knights but really nice same as the branded version
    Cooking Salt
Crumpets, Teacakes, Hot Cross Buns & Muffins

I only use Netto for branded products such as washing powder and toilet rolls when it is on offer in the online magazines as I find them value for money.

I've found this problem with several brands of tablets. It always happens in the winter when the cold water supply is cooler than normal. You'll find that in the spring they will dissolve as normal. I crumble my tablets straight into the washing machine dispenser (bit like a giant oxo cube!)

Surely then it would be just as convenient to use the cheaper washing powder? I use about half the recommended amount of powder and it works fine.

Lidl have for quite a while been on the black list of trade unions all over Europe for the way they treat their staff.

My Lidl staff always seem to be quite chatty.

This is slightly off topic, because I don't think the German supermarket was Lidl.
Do you know what "Wombling" was? It involved looking into the Tesco trolleys to see if you could find a discarded receipt where the club card points had not been claimed, then taking it back inside and saying something like "I've found my club card, it was in the car". I think Tesco refuse to do it these days.
Any way a check out (?) person in Germany went along to the bottle recycling machine to find receipts where the customers had failed to claim. She collected about 1.15 GBP (1.30 Euro) in green points and so, inspite of a long clean record, the supermarket sacked her.
She was called something like Barbara E.
She probably wishes she had worked as a director of a bank.
