Here is a question for the HSBC staff or anyone who knows. I have requested that £30 be transferred from my flexible saver to my current account today that has happened. However I have a standing order that £330 be transferred to my father on the 7th of every month that has not yet happened. He is a HSBC customer. I have more than the neccessary funds. Why is that?

Standing orders and direct debits are only processed on working days (M-F usually). As the 7th is a Sunday, it'll be processed on the next available working day, which is tomorrow. Immediate transfers are, however, processed any time.

I think they make you call or visit a branch to open the Regular Saver as it is a loss leading product and so want to maximise cross-selling opportunities.

I am sure you are correct, unfortunately for HSBC, they have chosen the wrong customer to try to flog stuff to.;)

Thank you I was not aware of that. I thought it might be the same day as we are both HSBC customers.

    Hi Inactive

its not a case of " flogging stuff".. if it saves you money then great, if it doesnt then its not the product for you..

if you wernt told about the services and products that were available to you, and they were moneysaving for you then you would be annoyed..

    Hi idavies,

I just don't like being approached for my money, in a somewhat deviant way, if I want a service, I find it for myself, I would not be annoyed in the highly unlikely event that HSBC could offer a like for like service at a better rate than some other company.

Same as I never buy from cold callers at my door or by telephone.

I am pleased to hear that HSBC will be concentrating more on debt management, perhaps a bit late in the day IMO, however, better late than not at all.;)

Yeh I agree with Inactive, I would never buy from any other products if I went into buy another.

But saying that, not everyone sits on MSE forums knowing about savings etc.

So if someone has got £10,000 (extreme I know) in their current account and they went into branch to open up another acount for credit card then got offered a savings account then yeh its pretty good because then they can get a better deal than they are at the moment.

Its like my OH, she has £5k in her savings account and the guy in Lloyds was like rar rar rar open an ISA as you get tax free interest, which would be useful if it wasn't for the fact I then said 'She doesn't earn over her personal allowance so at the moment she gets tax free interest anyway'. He then shut up and moved on lol.

    .

To be honest Lokolo, with interest rates falling as they are, they wouldn't gain very much by moving their money to a HSBC Savings Account.:D
