I just tried, went all the way through to we are just setting up the account then it said error I need to call to see if its set up!! But they are closed now.
Same happened to me. I've just called them, quoting the error reference and they are going to call me back tomorrow. I wonder if I'll still get the good rate as I officially applied before they withdrew. there must have been a rush on last night!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Evening, First post so be gentle with me.
I applied yesterday for the 7.21 account with The AA, and after about an hour of getting a frozen page half way through, it finally accepted my application only when I used IE instead of Firefox. Will just have to wait and see if anything turns up in the post."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

A warm welcome, full stop.I am sure you will be ok.I only applied last night too.I bet they were very busy once the interest rate dropped so suddenly!!Wonder how long it will take for the forms to arrive in the post?0

It will take approx 4 working days. My wife applied on the 5th and received the forms today.0

Can I ask, did you just go ahead and re apply or did you call them as it said?
I got the same message last night and am now waiting on the phone to speak with someone.
I did call them first, they said nothing received so I quickly reapplied, it went through that time. Haven't received an email confirmation or anything (printed confirmation from screen though) so now waiting with bated breath for further developments.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Well, of course they didn't phone. But I called them today and they said it was unlikely I'd get the rate. I told them that I had applied before the rate was closed and have a reference no to prove it. They will call me Monday.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Hi there,
Seems that I am one of the very few users on this board who have never used a cheque in their lives. :-)
Well, I moved from Germany to the UK earlier this year and my initial account I opened was with Barclays. This account is still open and I actually do have a cheque book from them but have never used it and I also have never used a cheque in Germany as paying by cheque is less common than in the UK.... it seems.
Anyway, I recently opened a Halifax current account and told them I wouldn´t need a cheque book. Boy, how wrong I was.Now that I applied for the AA account earlier this month, I would need one. Therefore, here are 2 questions for you guys:
1/ When I applied for the AA account, I provided my Halifax account details as my "linked account". Question: Could I use one of the cheques I still have from Barclays or wouldn´t they accept this at the AA because it doesn´t come from my linked account with the Halifax?
2/ If the cheque has to be from Halifax, what can I do? Could I walk into my local branch first thing tomorrow morning and will they be able to provide me with a cheque (book)? I will certainly ask them to send me a cheque book but doubt that I will receive it in time for making the deposit to the AA account.
Well, these are the moments when -as a foreigner- you realise that there are still so many things to learn in the UK. But at the same time, things like this make life so much more interesting.
Any thoughts, comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
DUS0 -
They need the cheque to be written on the linked account otherwise they wont accept it.
You could order a cheque book from Halifax but it will take some time to arrive.
I opened an AA account a couple of weeks ago with the first cheque in a book from a Halifax current account I opened over a year ago. This cheque was returned to AASavings as unpaid. On contacting Halifax I was told that all cheques in the book had been stopped because of "returned mail". The stop having been made in September 2007 Halifax hadn't bothered to tell me.
Got the stop taken off and had to send another cheque, hope that gets there in time.
