I sent a cheque recorded delivery on Tuesday 7 October and the funds showed up in my AA account today.

I just phoned to get the new deadline confirmed. First I was told that it was the 21st Oct. When I said a friend of mine (yes, you Seahorse ;)) was told it was the 24th she checked and confirmed.

Just spoke to AA and they advise that it will take 5 working days to process a cheque and interest will not be backdated to date of receipt.
Is this not in breach of the banking code and 2-4-6 timings? As I understand it they are supposed to credit interest beginning from the 2nd working day after they receive the cheque from you at the very latest. It seems from this thread that some people are seeing a much longer delay.

Quick update. Just spoke to the AA and he confirmed that cheques sent on Friday 10th of October have not been paid into my Fixed rate accounts yet.

It will probably be paid into the a/cs tomorrow meaning that I'll need to transfer money into my current account to cover the cheques by Monday at the latest.

Can't remember when my cheque was sent, a while ago, but went out of my Lloyds current account today. Just rang to see if I could top it up with a transfer from elsewhere, yes but the money has to be in before Tuesday 21st the cut off point!

So many differing dates told about when monies need to be in by, not a good sign for the AA.

I was originally told Wednesday 15th was the deadline, and didn't bother as I couldn't get the funds there in time.

So, has the time limit to get a cheque in for the 7.21% rate (for those who have applied) definitely been extended ?

At last, all of my cheques (sent on 10th and 13th of October) have been processed with todays date.

I'm surprised to read of others delays. I didn't get my cheque to them until the 14th yet they credited me on 15th, so it looks like I jumped the queue somehow :p

A confirmation form never did arrive though, despite them claiming to have sent one, and then a duplicate. Not that it matters now.
