So glad I looked on here! My Aunt who has no internet access was about to send off a cheque to claim here 'prize' and fortunately happened to mention it to me first. I thougt it was odd to have to pay for a prize holiday so did some very basic searching for her.

Her Whoopydoo voucher has now gone straight into the shredder where it belongs.

The postings here by the MD of the company are a disgrace - as are the underhand tactics used to con less savvy people out of hard-earned cash. Thank you to those who have exposed it.

And fortunately when they do post (Traveling Mick), the content is so over the top it actually underpins everyone elses disparaging comments.
  • My ongoing stint to get my (FREE HOLIDAY) started in December 2007 I recieved my recorded delivery letter this morning 21st August 2009 it has to be returned by next friday 28th. I think not. I have been in contact with Consumer Advice since I realised there was an issue with this company they told me to send the leter back without a cheque requesting their terms and conditions, I was told not to expect them to send them to me as they had not with other so called winners. Sometimes a company will come across a real cow like me who has an emormous amount of patience and loves nothing more than a legal fight. Game on Whoopdydoo, otherwise known as Simon Kent.
  • Beware. I'm not saying they are dishonest. It's what they leave out of their info that is the problem.
Our 1st. holiday offer was no longer available when we accepted it, even though we accepted before the required date.
Our 2nd offer arrived on 29th May offering a departure on 15th June (not the "normal" 3-4 weeks notice). We didn't see the offer until returning home at the end of the bank holiday. The destination was not specified, only the country, Turkey. We could have accepted it and then re-arrange our appointments etc for the holiday period. That was not suitable for us. So we have lost the holiday (and our £49 each).
Tax, fuel levy, transfers, flight meals and luggage would have been £146 each. With the processing fee, the holiday, to an unknown destination, would have cost £195 each. We will not be considering Whoopydoo again.

Hi, Thanks for all the info in these threads. I got my Whoopydoo voucher from a letter from UK Allocations office, PO box 78, Ross-on-wye, Herefordshire HR9 9ZU. I was informed that I had 2 unclaimed prizes under my name and had to call up to find out what they were and write down the allocation claim code to send off on the phone. No way was I spending £9 - £10.50 (mobile texts) to do this so I sent of the request via a postal route that just asked for 2 1st class stamps. That was back in Nov 2010. I received my code saying I had won a Luxury Villa Holiday (Terms apply) and an amythest pendant. Today I have just received my Whoopydo Voucher.

After googling and finding this on moneysavingsexpert.com, whom I have learnt so much with and trust, I shall not be wasting any more of my time with this Voucher and will keep my money and sanity!!!!

thank you all who have posted. :rotfl:

I have just looked in the envelope and I have to "re-claim" my FREE amethyst pendant with a chq for £9.95 for it to arrive in "pristine condition". The company I have to post to is McIntyre & Dodd Marketing Ltd, PO Box 107, Ross-on-wye, HR9 9YP.. DOUBLE CON!

I found this after Gooling Mcinyre and Dodds, on a Comunity scam register...

The first thing we learn is that the company behind this is McIntyre & Dodd Marketing ltd whose postcode, incidentally, isn’t what they put on the mailout.
That postcode points to The Recycling People in Ross-on-Wye (right).
The correct postcode should of course be HR9 5PQ (according to an online business directory entry). Sorry, no, it’s actually a field.
Next we find that the Advertising Standards Authority ruled against this company in 2007. What for? I hear you cry. Suffice it to say, in the words of the ASA, “The mailing breached CAP Code clause 7.1 (Truthfulness).”
Today, we discover that the OFT (Office of Fair Trading) is seeking a court order McIntyre and Dodd Marketing Ltd stating:
‘Our case is that these promotions encourage people to believe they have won a valuable prize when, we argue, the plain fact of the matter is that people are being sold a low value product. We have been unable to reach agreement with the companies or secure voluntary agreement that distribution will cease. So we think the best thing now is for the High Court to decide the matter.’
McIntyre and Dodd Marketing Ltd are now part of a group of companies called DM Plc. Scratch the surface of any of these companies and before long you’re looking at a whole end-to-end database building, direct marketing operation designed (clearly very successfully) to collect names, addresses and postcodes from people entering ‘quiz’ sites and ‘prize draws’ online.

Thank god we searched this on google and found all the threads advising myself and partner of this complete scam. We were seriously considering applying for the free holiday we were being given after filling in a product registration and survery for Russel Hobbs. You would think Russel Hobbs being a reputable company would not endorse such a scam and would not allow for their customers to become involved in such a dodgy situation.

Luckily we are dubious about anything that is given away for free, as lets face it, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is!
  • Hi Has anyone else experienced this from Whoppydoo?

Last year we got a phone call from a holiday company offering us a greek cruise with Royal Carribean for an amazing price £400 for both of us, so we said yes to it as this sounded unreal, the voucher was sent to us offereing this cruise, we had to fill it in and send it back to whoppydoo in Chester - we are located in North wales so we thought it sounded good! After sending this leaflet back with the cheque for the holiday we expected to hear something - but nothing happened for over 1 year - so my husband went to see Whoppydoo in Chester - but guess what no one there, what a surprise!!
Then last week I received an emai from Whoppydoo, saying we have cruise leaving in 2 weeks to the greek islands. After numerous phone calls to see who the cruise was with and asking why we have to pay a £600 deposit each - i never got thro!! so emailed them back and finally gor a response - they said Louis cruise group - read a story that one of their new ships sank of santorini (so no i don't wanna go!!) Anyone been with before and r they like royal carribean - as we went on Liberty of seas around carribbean islands and loved every minute of it - if it's like this i would go?? Why when i was promised Royal carribean - the reason why i went for it!!
has anyone else had this happen to them - i don't want to go now as i have read so many bad reports saying people have gone on their holiday and then find out when at their destination - there name is not on the list! I just want to put an end to this and get my money back £400 intital cost! - Please anyone thinking about this- don't do it as it's not worth it - just book a proper holiday with a big travel agent - may cost more but least you know what u r getting and how much it will cost!!
If anyone has experienced this - would love to hear from you as bit stressed and don't know what to do next!!
    Thanks
  • I have just returned from a holiday arranged with a 'win' from whoopydo. I read all the negative remarks and was very worried. I spoke to the office many times and as I am local to then I called in to see them. The staff have been amazing, very helpful. Before we went we Wanted to add another person and the travel agent they deal with was wonderful. We added another person, and had a very lovely holiday in Crete. I paid my refundable deposit of £320.00 in case we did not go on the holiday, and received the cheque back the day after we arrived home. All in all we were very satisfied with the service, but I must admin I was very worried, even to the time we arrived at the airport, but I need not have been.
