Don't know where to put this - WHOOPYDOO TRAVEL

Options
Hi

I have no idea where to put this thread, so have put it here! We have just received a 'voucher' from a company called 'whoopydoo travel'. They say we are entitled to a holiday for up to 6 people to a med resort, for 7 days, including flights, for £39 per person. No time share tours they say, no catches! I've looked them up and they seem to be ok, a company that gives these vouchers to other companies to pass on.

Now this all sounds very nice, but having been caught out too often, I am very cynical. Anyone have any idea of this company or have done this?

thanks

I'd be wary, not huge amounts of details on the air website and poor reviews such as this one in the independent:http://www.independent.co.uk/money/invest-save/questions-of-cash-scratch-that-the-792-free-holiday-761567.html

Sadly you are probably too late to take up your voucher by now but Celtic sprite is entirely wrong.

I've just got back from my 3rd holiday with Whoopydoo and have saved a fortune. I've been to Malaga, Turkey and Greece.

The article on the independent link is very misleading as the only costs you have to pay are the taxes and airline fuel fee (when is this going to disappear now that oil is only $66??) which was £34 and £40 per person for me.

I've got no idea how they can afford to keep sending me on hols as there is no timeshare or anything dodgy like that. In fact, the last holiday was a thomson holiday.

    :money:
  • I am a woman on the edge at the minute, not because it's nearly Christmas, but because of Whoopydoo and their astonishingly inadeqaute customer service.

I'm supposedly leaving for Paris tomorrow night, but haven't had any confirmation of travel in the post. I rang this morning to enquire where my documents are, as I was promised in a letter that I would receive them by 5 Dec at the latest and that they would be sent Special Delivery.

I was told that she sent my travel confirmations by normal post on 5 December, and that I would 'just have to wait in for them'. I swear to God, this woman was truly obnoxious to me, particularly when I asked her what would happen if I don't get the documents in tomorrow's post, when I have to set off to get to the airport tomorrow night. She point blank refused to email me the confirmations, or send them special delivery, even after I'd said I would pay for it. How ridiculous. So far, this 2 day jaunt to Paris has cost me £40 pp as a 'processing fee', £74 pp in airport fees as detailed above, and they've got a cheque off me for £150 PP in case I don't travel. And all because I 'won' a holiday on a poxy scratch card. I'm at a loss as to what to do, they don't have a written complaints procedure and 'don't sign up to' any ombudsman.
I cannot understand the treatment I've received at the hands of this 'manager'. Why can't she just email me the confirmations? Why did they send documents out in the normal Christmas post, instead of SD as promised. Do I have any cause to just tell them where to go and keep their 'hoilday' and refund me ALL my money? So many questions, not enough answers.

  • For some time now we have had problems with what can only be described as fraudsters re-selling our Whoopydoo holiday vouchers on auction sites such as Ebay. A few people we contacted hadn’t read the T&Cs which specifically prohibit this practice but many simply told us to shove off and continued to sell the vouchers. They still do so but now sell the scratch card which is contrary to the Gambling Act.

The problem is that they mis-describe the vouchers and don’t provide the buyer with any of the terms and conditions of what they are actually buying. This would certainly fall fowl of the latest consumer legislation that came into effect May 08.

About the middle of 2008 we became aware that people were asking questions regarding our vouchers on this site and the replies were invariably incorrect and often opinionated rather than factual. We thought that some of these could be malicious posts from some of the people we had ‘caught up with’ on Ebay. So we decided to reply to some posts under the same username we had used on Ebay to try to flush them out.

Nothing happened so we thought we must be wrong. So we stopped trying to be clever and then tried to answer any concerns as Whoopydoo.

Then ‘bingo’ along comes ‘Watch-dog’. As the only way anyone could know that Pa1antir7 is Whoopydoo will have been to be caught fraudulently selling our vouchers on Ebay as we suspected.

As our ‘trap’ has now been sprung, perhaps ‘watch-dog’ would like to provide everyone with their ebay username and contact details?

For those of you who hold a Whoopydoo voucher and have any queries, you can contact us by email or phone by using the information on the voucher you have received. We are always happy to assist.

If you would like some genuine feedback from people who have actually been on holiday using one of our vouchers then please see the testimonials section of our web site. These are updated when the questionnaires our clients send to travellers post hols are received back.

If you must submit the scratch card,do it by post and save the £6 telephone charge.

I have read your companies genuine feedback:rotfl: Funny how so many people praise the scratchcard system, much more than the holidays itself..strange that..

Please print the terms and conditions of the holidays here. That will make things a lot clearer. If you don't do so,we might be suspicious..
