I have just ordered my chocolate from vantagehouse.com. The very helpful gentleman I spoke with recommended using cocoa butter to keep the chocolate smooth. They only sell a large quantity. I have found another company (whose chocolate is far more expensive), http://www.chocolatefountainwarehouse.co.uk/
who sell the cocoa butter powder in smaller quantities.0 -
For small quantities of choc (900g), I've used Prezzybox with the £5 off code.

Have bought one as a family pressie for us all, but dd3 and ds aren't too good with lots of chocolate, dd3 got give Smarties yesterday at school and has been manic since (the black and white smarties seem as bad as the blue ones!). If you think your OH is going to be mad wait till mine sees our fountain, it seems at bit mean not to let the children join in, even if it does mean chaos! :snow_laug :snow_laugGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Thanks for that! With no P&P that is cheap enough. If I have for New Year I'll be happy. Will be going the Lidl (and veg oil) route for Xmas. BTW, I find it strange that people are so sickened by the veg oil concept- have they any idea what is in everything else that they eat!?0 -
1kg of chocolate calibaut together with 3 tbs of cocoa butter powder worked perfectly. The chocolate was exactly the right consistency. We used the Belini chocolate fountain last night and it worked really well. My only concern was that the chocolate did not remain warm. Did anyone else have this problem. I think tonight I might let it warm up for say 10 minutes and see if this is better.
It was yummy.0 -
Well when the "pump" is switched on, the chocolate will lose more heat because it is being spread out over a large area and is moving. Perhaps the Bellini has no thermostat, so the heater is small to prevent overheating when the pump is off, or the heater just isn't powerful enough? Anyone else have the same problem?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
