It should work with AOL. Don't give up yet!
I would try configuring your laptop with a fixed IP address. See the router manual at http://speedtouchdsl.com/pdf/Manuals/R531/ST576_InstallSetup_en.pdf for instructions on how to do this.0 -

could you do one more ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, and ipconfig /all and post this section again..
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Winbond W89C33 mPCI 802.11 Wireless
LAN Adapter
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . :
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.6.120
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
As explained previously, until you get past the default 169 address being allocated, the internet will never work.
Do you have a network bridge mentioned in CPanel networks, or system, devices, hardware? on the properties of the wireless network card, is it set to assign an ip address automatically?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

my laptop has died, after just bought it 5 weeks ago,the hardrive has failed so now its been sent back to be repaired and i am waiting for it to be returned.
thanks anyway. :xmassign:0 -
ive got mine sorted now!!!
if you go to the website page for the setup of the router, on one of the pages it gives a 'WEP key' - a long combination of letters and numbers - all i did was put than in my laptop when it asked for the network key (not the one id actually set up myself for the network) ,and now im online wireless!!!!!0 -
gemr117, if you can, I suggest you use wpa-psk encryption rather than wep, as it is more secure. You can generate a unique random key here https://www.grc.com/passwords
All you have to do is configure your router to use WPA , this is usally on the same screen as the WEP option, and do the same on your laptop, if it doesn't work, revert to WEPEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
