  • Ah looks like I missed the boat on my original bargain. Orginally O/B & I/B were both 1p each & no taxes at all & luggage came to a total of £64.04 inc c/c fees. Now 0p FREE plus £30 taxes O/B & I/B so double the price at £120.00 inc luggage & c/c fee. Hey ho it looks like it wasn't meant to be for me this time. Do they often have offers like this, ie every couple of months.

The bookies odds on RyanAir failing were 100-1, at least as safe as BA. This is among the least likely to fail odds on any mainstream airline.

The reason is that RyanAir are extremely cash rich - so even if they don't make any money, or even lose loads in the next year, it will just come out of their savings account.

So I wouldn't worry about it. And I'm naturally caautious with this kind of thing!

    Thanks gwapenut
  • ahhhh i've been charged £60 through card fees, i didn't realise it was going to take it til it already had!!!! arrrrgh. I was booking on the off chance we're off uni and everyone wants to go, but i don't wanna pay that..... does anyone have the number i saw posted somewhere earlier which costs 10p per min not £1? thanksss

very misleading website as when you go to purchase at 2p only after you have selected a payment type does it alter and charge you £8 card fee.
maybe everyone who has slipped up on this should ring trading standards, as especially when the offer states no card fees.
  • Hi,

Am having similar problems with tax, have been clicking days forward and back over a three week period and nothing has come up as completely free. Best I can get is £30.00 tax one way and £56!!! tax coming back. Not looking good for getting a visit to the OH's mum in France. Sigh. always get excited about these things and then am never able to get the route I need. Oh well, gonna keep trying for a little bit, but if no luck in half an hour I shall have to admit defeat!

i only tried milan and there were loads of completely free dates!!! and no card fee!!!
  • Must be down to the destination I guess. The annoying thing is I have two airports to chose from in France but neither are showing free flights despite being on the 'free' list on the home page.
I did try for a 2p one I fould one way thinking I could hunt about for a cheap return but the card fees were added so I decided not to book incase it didn't work out and I would have spent £8.02 for no good reason.
Just one of those things I guess. Will have to keep an eye out for next time!

I'm beginning to suspect that some of the destinations they list as "free" don't actually have any free seats. I checked one destination yesterday and went through every single available date and did not find any for free (there were lots for 1p though)

I don't believe they could have sold out so quickly as I was on the site at midnight.
  • I think it is the 1p flights that are 'free' (ie no taxes). There are some the have no ticket charge but they have taxes added on.

For all tickets you pay the card booking fee (about £4.50 each way) unless you use an Electron card which is free.

Electron cards are hard to get but you can buy a preloaded one from the post office and just add money to it when you want (subject to a 1.5% loading fee - minimum £3).

Using a post office card I have just managed to book 2 return flights to Poland for 4p.
  • ELECTRON CARDS:

I agree that they are not the easiest cards to find, so what i did was open a Halifax easycash account (usually the sort of account your 14 year old gets offered) and keep a few quid in it for just booking Ryanair flights. 15 of us are going to Germany for a total of 30p return.
"If a man says something, but there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?"
  • That's interesting to know - I did try and find an account that would give me a Electron card but found it very difficult - the ones that had them said they were phasing them out and wanted to give me a debit card. I'm pretty sure I tried the Halifax - did you do this a while a go? The post office card is by no means perfect since you pay the loading fee and also have to pay a £5 re-issue fee when it expires (2 years). But you can save these fees in one visit to the Ryanair site!

You can also get a post office card in Euros which gets round the Ryanair fee's if you are abroad and buying a ticket home in Euros or if European friends or family are buying tickets to visit you. If you pay in Pounds you get hit with fees for exchanging the money! Also you can use the card whilst in Europe to buy things in shops without paying the exchange rate again.
