Glad you got that sorted out. I think solicitors do it deliberately to make the process as stressful as possible, so it looks like they're working really hard just so we don't all tell them to shove it and do the conveyancing ourselves. Someone I knew once did their own and it was so much simpler. She had the advantage of being mortgage-free though, for the rest of us solicitors are a necessary evil.
Thanks for the link to the house - it really is lovely and seems like a true bargain.
All the very best for the hospital tomorrow, hope it's nothing too serious.0 -
Everything went ok at the hospital, the op was a bigger than was origionally planned and i had to stay in a few days but i seem to be recovering well now, just a little sore.
Things are on track with the house as well, the estate agents are absolute B******* and are causing lots of hassle, we asked our solicitior to request the sellers contact us directly to sort out all the issues. They phoned us within 10 minutes and we are getting eveything sorted now. Hopefuly we will be able to complete next month.
We have the deposit together now, 30k in savings and my mum has taken a 15k loan out on our behalf. As soon as we get into the house I plan to start a new diary as we will need to get into some serious debt busting, as we have had to borrow so much money for the deposit. Our aim is to be debt free by christmas 2010 so we will have just over a year to do it.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
I just got a call from our solicitor, we have to go in monday to sign all the paperwork for the house. The estimated date for completion is 22nd May! We will be really happy to get everything completed ASAP but we still have to rent this house until August 1st so its going to be an expensive few months for us.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0

Brilliant - that's only a fortnight away. Bet you and Mr Lunar are very excited! Have you got everything you need? I'm guessing that the house will be bigger than what you'd have been renting, hopefully you won't have to shell out for loads of furniture. How exciting.
Sorry the op was a bit of a pain - thanks for your text and sorry I didn't get back to you - I tried but it failed as my phone doesn't work in the house, and then I totally forgot to try again! Glad to hear that you're all ok now though.
That's so kind of your mum to take out that loan for you, she must trust you implicitly. I'm sure you'll have it all paid back in no time though, especially with your OH on the case too - get him out working all the hours of the day!0 -
Sorry about your hospital stay, but glad that things are moving along nicely on the house front at last.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Wow Lunar!!! I am so excited for you. It is so well deserved, you and your OH have both been so focused. Hope DS is well, my baba is getting more fun all the time. It is just all going by quicker than what I would like.
