    Hi Lunar

When me and (soon to be ex) hubby got together, he had quite a lot of debt, and over the years I have at various points used MY money (bonuses from work, inheritance) to clear parts of it.

I never regretted or begrudged it, and still don't even now we are separated, because it was right at the time - we were a family, and we shared everything.

I would let your OH help, then concentrate on clearing the rest asap, so that you can get on with achieving your joint plans.

Hope the little one is okay x

Agreed, that way you can then enjoy your little one and your time as a family without worrying, when you have a little one you have enough to worry about.

I agree with the rest above - if it was me I'd let him help out. I think I'd go for the 2nd option you've got above - transfer as much of the balance on your big loan as you can onto the BT credit card and let your OH pay off the rest of it. That way you're going to have a much bigger debt moved onto 0%, and you can keep picking away at the Egg loan which you'll probably have paid off in about 6 months anyway at the rate you're going, especially if you're not having to pay out as much per month for the repayments to the BT card as you would have on the loan - that's more you can chuck at Egg in the meantime.

I can see you being debt free before next Christmas quite easily. There's a challenge for you!

Hypno - 15???!!!!! Just remembering some of the boyfriends I had when I was 15 :rotfl:
  • Hi Lunar, sorry to vanish on you had a few issues in the last week or so and not been online. Will drop you an email about the diet. Hope baba is doing well :)

In response to the discussion above I'd let OH help out now. By having your little boy you have made a huge commitment to each other. I can understand why you needed to go so far on your own (and you have certainly shifted that debt at some speed!!) but maybe now is a good time to accept his offer.

Def. pick the larger loan so you won''t have it hanging over you when everything else is gone.

ill be following everyones advice and getting rid of the larger loan in the new year i think, it will feel really good to get rid of it.

I cant believe you have been with your OH since 15 hypno, you must have better taste than me when i think back to being 15, and my boyfriend at the time.

Snaggles, im so sorry about your marriage, i didnt realise. i hope you and your children are all ok. I was devastated when my marriage ended, we had been together for 6 years. i cant imagin having to go through it with children. take care of your self.

Tea, your definatly right about all the worrying!

Panda, i would so love to be debt free by next christmas but my wage will drop dramatically very soon with the maternity so ill only be making minimum payments for most of next year. my spreadsheet at the min looks like i will have £8000 left to pay off by next christmas with the minimum payments i make at the moment. hopefully i can get into some of the increase your income challenges and get it a little lower.

Hayley, im so sorry about your horse, i know how much you loved him. How is your little bundle?

My DS is growing so quickly. ive seen some real smiles in the last few days, he is making lots of cute noises now and gripped his rattle (after i spent several attempts putting it in his hand) and shook it a little.

NSD for me yesterday so im up to 12 now, including today.

  • Wow Lunar I thought my lists were long sometimes! Well done on what you've completed so far.

I didn't venture into Marks yesterday, I knew that once I'd go in there I'd never come out and the school would have had to send a search party over to find me.

I shopped online at marks, then went into town and shopped again! lucky that half of it was on behalf of my mum. My jobs list is only long as i dont do one very often so loads needs doing.

Im sat sorting through all the christmas pressies right now, the problem with shopping early is that i keep on buying things as i see them right up until christmas. Im not going to tell myself off to much over it though, nothing has been bought on credit and i have so much fun christmas shopping.
