  • That was about the jist of it yes.
    Keep it polite but firm.
I simply said I wasnt satisfied by the refusal to cancel my PPI.
I had been a TSB customer for over ten years etc and im now considering taking my business elsewhere.

Oh IIRC, I sent it to the Loans customer care dept.

Good luck and be sure to let us know how you get on

I sent my letter off (also to Lloyds TSB) this afternoon by recorded delivery. Needless to say my fingers are firmly crossed.

Many thanks to Avogirly and Old iron balls who both sent me a copy of the letters they used to tackle this issue. :)

Well if they say you MUST have PPI then inform them you will be getting it from another provider ;)

Try the BIBA list :) (British Insurance Brokers Association) all these are BIBA members :)

can someone please PM me the template? I must have paid out about £900 in PPI on my £7000 HSBC graduate loan so far, if i could get this back i could solve a lot of my debt issues.

Also will the same letter cover cancelling my Barclaycard PPI as well?

Have PM'd it over to you!

If you barclaycard is a credit card then a simple phone call should cancel that straight away.

    Good Luck!

After sending a letter to Tesco Finance a couple of weeks ago I have now been refunded £1254.76 and my repayments are £48 a month lower. Woohoo! Thanks to Avogirly for PM'ing me the template and everyone else who has posted advice.

Right.... I'm off to blow it all on a Chuck Norris Multigym and a holiday to Majorca
(just kidding! - It'll help to pay off my Halifax credit card.)

This morning i have recieved a letter back from the customer relations department at the yorkshire bank. it says

"I refer to your recent letter.
The terms and conditions that you signed when you agreed to the loan, clearly state that by signing the personal loan agreement form, you agreed that you had read and accepted the terms and conditions of the loan. I have enclosed a copy of the loan agreement for your information and would draw your attention to the purpose of loan section which under point 3 details "cost of optional repayment protection insurance".
Whilst i appreciate your comments, the way in which the bank has handled this matter has been correct. The bank has a duty to inform customers that they have the option of insurance when applying far a loan. However, it remains the customers responsibility to decide if they wish to take this option. I regret, therefore, that i am unable to refund the insurance premium to you.
I am sure you will appreciate that it is very difficult to establish what conversation took place when you took out your loan, however, I would have to say that our members of staff who conduct loan interviews are fully conversant with the options available to customers.
I am sorry that i am unable to provide you with a more favourable response but thank you for taking the time and trouble to write to me. I can assure that we value your custom and would be very sorry to lose you as a customer.
You may consider this letter as the banks final response in relation to the issues you have raised. If you are dissatisfied with our final response you may refer your complaint to the financial ombudsman service".

ok so it looks like thats it.
what should i do next i'm considering moving banks totally and that would mean having to take out a new loan WITHOUT ppi!!!!
What do you all suggest is the next step??

    thanks in advance.
  • Hmmmm they look quite adamant dont they :o

Id do just that. It may be worth a try

Has anyone had any joy with Yorkshire bank ???
    Debt at highest £16k+
    Debt at lightbulb moment £14,800
    Current debt £6336
Cleared £4206 in November 05 How ? Bye Bye PPI :)
  • I had a reply from Lloyds TSB yesterday regarding the cancellation request I sent them on Tuesday:

"I am just writing to let you know that we've received your complaint - and to say how sorry I am to learn that you're unhappy with us.

You have my assurance that one of our assistant managers will investigate the concerns you have raised with us - this may take a little time but I would expect our enquiries to be complete within the coming 2 weeks. We will then be able to respond in full to your complaint and at that stage, I hope, resolve matters between us.

In case you haven't received a copy of our leaflet called 'How to voice you concerns' I've enclosed one with this letter. This tells you all you need to know about resolving your complaint with us.

    Yours sincerely
    Stacy Cope
    Assistant Manager"

Nothing too exciting, but at least they have acknowledged my letter and are looking into it. Certainly a far better initial response than asquiths above received from the Yorkshire Bank. :(
