I've just been reading through some of the posts on this thread and it spurred me to take a look at my boyfriends Nationwide Loan.

He took out the loan in Oct 05 - £11k over 72 months @ 6.7 %. His PPI equates to 33.07 a month, the total monthly amount is £217.99.

Does anyone have any experience of cancelling PPI with Nationwide? What would you suggest the first move would be? Thanks
  • Good luck with yours.
    Fingers crossed for you.
    Cheers. :)

Thanks for this everyone, just waiting for a copy of the template letter and am going to try with LloydsTsb. Also, I had a gold trustcard with them which they defaulted me on because I couldn't make the payments, partly because the PPI made the repayments so high. Can I do the same with this one too?

  • And had they agreed by the next time you heard from them, or did you have to argue your case a bit more before they scrapped your PPI?

Once they did scrap it, did they reduce the term or the monthly payments?

They wrote back saying they had looked into my case and they would not refund.
I wrote one more letter, but this time it was a letter of complaint. It worked and they refunded me.

    My repayments remained the same.
The full refund was taken off the balance of the loan.
Only got £700 left to pay on it now hehe

    Debt at lightbulb moment £14,800

Cleared £4206 in November 05 How ? Bye Bye PPI :)

It might be worth sending it by recorded delivery. That's what I did with my letter on Monday.

    Hi
    What a helpful thread!
We have had a loan with the AA since August 04 and have been paying the insurance cover!!!
I have rung them today and they have said if i write in it will be cancelled and we will be £6 a month better off.
We are apparently only entitled to a refund of part of it-is this correct?
Anyhow I am happy with an extra £6 a month as the monthly figure is £73.33 so that will reduce it to £67.33 and every bit helps.
    Thanks again for the help
    xx
