Hi Greenbee and hugs for you and yours - I like the idea of getting them tagged. Yes Toots went in for some treatment (I think Thursday - it was for 5 days) so hoping she will be back tomorrow.

I'm off to bed now, still no flying done in the now very Dusty house.

Okay folks, I need a bit of advice about tomorrows list.

I seriously need to clean out the spare bedroom. There is linen everywhere, its all spilled out into the floor (I was looking for something, and I knew it was somewhere in the wardrope, so, all the duvet sets etc got thrown all around the room), however, its getting to that time of year when all the spiders are coming into the house, and Im seriously scared, I cant even look at them never mind kill them. Is there anything I can do to make sure theres none in amongs all the stuff thats lying around.
Infact, if anyone knows of anything that I can spray/put down to deter them coming into the house, it would be gratefully appreciated.

    Jackie
  • Hi greenbee, welcome back and sorry to hear about your dad - glad he is OK, but also glad your're mum's getting him tagged (I know that she's not really, but I am sure she will watch him like a hawk so he will wish he was...:D )

Well I have done a few more bits:

    My Extras
    Fix DS computer
    Business Extras
    Do invoice for club
    Phone Yell about entry
Speak to Parkfield re staging showhome
    Speak to lead from ReallyMoving.com
Send off my Tax return online

so my list is getting smaller, thanks for making me focus guys, especially Pigpen for the wonderful lists, as I used housework as an excuse not to do my business before...

Really glad I finally did my tax return too - I've had the sums ready for ages, just not logged on - big bonus, apparently while I was working part time last year I was paying too much tax - £1,400 too much...:j :j :j That is what it has shown me, but not sure if it's right (or maybe I just don't believe it) If it is right, I'm not holding out on getting it any time soon, but if I do that will be Christmas away sorted - big relief as we REALLY need to be away then...

Right off to prepare my list for tomorrow - who knows what wonders THAT will bring...

Jackie - I have a similar problem... there's a dead one on the floor next to me now (I had to tread on it, and no way am I moving it!), so I'd be interested in short term solutions. Long term, I've had a lot of success as follows:

    1. declutter - fewer places for them to hide!
    2. fill gaps/cracks - again, fewer places for them to live/ways to get into the house
    3. ultrasonic/electromagnetic deterents - I have mains powered and portable battery-powered ones as extras. The permanent ones are in my bedroom and the kitchen (they should be enough for a whole floor each). The electromagnetic repellent works through the wiring, the ultrasonic through the air, but is obstructed by furniture. If you put these in, switch them on while you're on holiday, as for the first few days they drive all the insects out of the walls, so you see more... a friend did it when she was housesitting for me a few years ago, and couldn't believe the way that they were all making for the door!
    4. telephone directories/heavy books & the hoover should be handy at all times. Make sure you do any housework wearing boots with trousers tucked into socks, and wearing tight sleeves and rubber gloves, with your hair tied back so you don't jump if a lock of hair moves!

If you're anything like me, the problem is, once you've seen one, you start thinking you're seeing them everywhere!
  • OK, tomorrows list is as follows, and as DS is at home, he can do most of his room himself...:j

  • Evening peeps

Full day at work again today then home for a quick cuppa before hair appt at 515.
As OH going to work, instructions left for DS and DD to get their own tea (HM chicken and ham burgers) and if they cleaned up the kitchen they wouldn’t have to do their HHC on todays lists.
Came home to a spotless kitchen so todays list looks like

Tuesday Tidiness- Living Room, Hall and Stairs
    Level 1
[STRIKE]Vacuum floors and sofas[/STRIKE] – floors yes, cushions turned as vacc’d last week
    Level 2
    [STRIKE]Dusting, even if around everything[/STRIKE]
    – yep all done
[STRIKE]Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe –[/STRIKE] all done
[STRIKE]Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets [/STRIKE]– all done
    [STRIKE]HHI[/STRIKE] –
work stuff ironed for rest of week
    Level 3

    [STRIKE]Wipe and water plants[/STRIKE] -
    done
[STRIKE]Clear the mantle and give it a thorough clean and put back only what is supposed to be there. [/STRIKE]-
    done
[STRIKE]Vacuum under furniture you can manage to move without hurting yourself [/STRIKE]– did this 2 weeks on trot so giving it a miss
Extra Mission: Pick one or more of the following tasks –
    1. Clean windows & any other glass like mirrors, pictures etc – still to do
    2. [STRIKE]Wipe down any paintwork that needs it.[/STRIKE] – it still needs its 2nd coat (only been waiting for it about 4 years)
    3. [STRIKE]Binbag dance.. [/STRIKE]– don’t do dancing
    4. [STRIKE]Wash any cushions, throws or curtains that need it.. Do you need your thick winter curtains up yet?[/STRIKE] – all done last week so not needed

Greenbee – hope your dads ok

Pigpen – thanx for kids rooms, DD has half a chance of having her friend sleepover if we can get it done tomorrow (apologies to everyone else who likes them on a Friday, I do usually but it was desporadum)

Thriftmonster – looks like you had a good day again

Nicki – hope the antihistamine work for you, I had hives for over 6 months and know how awful itching can be

Serena – must be the time of year for bugs as I felt seriously grotty this morning, couldn’t put my finger on it, and DS is feely grotty with the start of a snuffly cold. Hope yours improve soon.

Dusty – I like Astonish too, I usually find it for about £1 in farmfoods of all places

SarahS – The Jamaican chicken sounds gorgeous, any chance of a recipe

Avinabacca – well done on what you have achieved, presumably its more than you would usually have done, hope you get rewarded accordingly ;)

Lilme – hope you manage to sort your storage problems, and that poor Megan improves

Ok I thinks that’s caught up back to yesterday, well done to everyone else.

Oooh just saw jackies sig and I think I need to make a cuppa and have choccy which I have hidden in the cupboard

    See you all tomorrow

Thanks Denise (and everyone else!)... my mum's heard that you can get gps tracking devices for alzheimers suffers, so my dad is being threatened. Mind you, he's lost his mobile (he puts stuff down in random places all the time), so I'm not sure it would help. He's only 64, so I'm not quite sure why he's decided to be such a liability!

Re. your tax return... I got my cheque really quickly last year. I was very surprised. But I did have to send a bit back as there was an error in the form so one cell was calculating wrong... So enjoy it, but don't be surprised if they ask for it back! My tax code has changed four times this tax year, and I have had three letters about the last change... so I'm not convinced I'll be paying the right amount this year.

Must go and get myself organised for tomorrow... 6am is going to be very difficult after the last few weeks of getting up when I feel like it, but I'm determined to get my routine back to where it was before I was ill, and start going to the gym in the mornings. I have a personal training session booked for tomorrow morning just to make sure I DO get up!
