Arrggghhhh sorry Rach ignore me, just put A to bed and came straight back here as I realised there was no intention for your post to sound as it did.
Please accept my apology, I had just caught up with today's neighbours which had me in tears as well!!!!Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
I know the feeling AnW's mum.
I'm feeling poorly and oversensitive too, have been having a long think about how commuting is affecting my health - I spend over 13 hours a week commuting (if everything is running ok) and its really getting to me - DH's commute is the same and so anything that makes it worse just makes us narky!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Blimey 13 hours, that is almost my entire working week!! I certainly don't envy you that one.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0

Hello all & welcome to the newbies,
I've had a quick read through this week's thread, but somehow don't think I'll catch upon last week (let me know if I've missed anything good though:D ).
I missed everybody last week while I was working in Leeds & Lancaster as I had no internet access in the hotels so couldn't keep up with the thread and gloat about the fact that I had no housework to do!
I then had a great time with my mum, dad & brother in the Lake District.
We didn't do as much walking as planned, as it turned out that last Wednesday my dad fell off a ladder... well that's his story... My mum's story is that he felt the need to remove the moss from the porch roof (probably the only thing keeping the water out), so moved the outside potting bench out about 6 feet, put the ladder up, didn't put the feet down properly... she heard a crash when she was in the kitchen, but didn't think anything of it, then the guy who was painting the outside of the house came in saying 'I think the doctor's had an accident' (my dad's a retired GP... they still all think he's the doctor...) - she went out to find him with his head on the table, feet jammed through the bottom of the ladder and body suspended in between:eek: Anyway, once she realised he was alive, they had to move him despite the risk, then called an ambulance (he kept saying he was fine  ). The hospital wanted to keep him in, but apparently he talked his way out but getting some of his ex-colleagues to say that his speech wasn't slurred, he always mumbles because he's deaf (this is true, and they generally see him socially when he's had a drink or two...). Of course, my mum was very stressed, has threatened to divorce him if he ever goes up a ladder again, and is now worried about leaving him on his own in case he keels over! I think my brother (also a doctor - and male obviously, so therefore allowed to have an opinion:rotfl: ) gave him a bit of a talking too, but I guess he's having problems coming to terms with the fact that he's not young (my brother told him he was old... not sure how well it went down...)
Obviously my parents are becoming a liability... my mum broke her back falling off a horse in NZ 3 years ago, and very luckily is now fine (but shorter).
OMG - have just had to stop to kill a giant spider!!! Where are they coming from? What can I do to keep them out of the house?? I'm phobic, so this is a real problem...
Hope to be back on track by the end of the week...0 -

If you're still not sure, just give a ring and check (just say something like you've started on it and because it wouldn't be finished until after wed, will that still be OK?) but I have been assured that it will be. Good luck
Thanks for that....now I need to decide if I have the energy to dig up all the gravel!xx
