  • Does anyone know how to get an amendment made. My postcode is correct with Royal Mail, but when it is entered into a Satnav it gives directions to an area that is about 10 miles away from my house ?

Do you know if the area the Sat-Nav selects is also the same postcode? If so, you'll need additional info like house number and street name.

If the sat-nav is out and it's only your house that you want set, set your home location by where you currently are at using co-ordinates. Hopefully your sat-nav should have that feature.

Just remember that you should never have your own address labelled as 'home' on your satnav.

The little **** who steals it will know you are out when they steal it. They could go and burgle you as well.

bingo Bango, My sat nav tells me my house is on the right, so next door neighbour is in for a shock if my Satnav gets nicked, lol.

One interesting thing is that the sat nav gives a more accurate read out on the speed you are doing compared to the car speedo. Tom Tom help desk confirmed this. It seems the car speedo is deliberately set to show a slightly higher speed than you are actually doing, around 5 mph, to try and keep you within the speed limit!!!

While it might be true the speedos are offest in the car (not sure how legal that would be as it is a requirement to have a 'working' speedo in the car) the sat nav uses a distance time calcuation to workout your speed. This has several flaws, 1. if you were doing 50mph and stop, the stat nav will show, 50..25..12..6..3..0 for the next 4-5 seconds as it taking an average distance/time. 2. unless the road is straight it will using the straight line distance between two point, so could be inaccurate.

    Hi guys & gals

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good sat nav for NI. Have had on in years when the coverage wasn't so good. I'm sure they have improved now.

Any one in particular you can recommend?

I'm impressed with the Garmin Nuvi we bought a few months ago. We got it mainly for use in Europe but I've used it for getting around NI for work purposes and have found it really good.
  • We've just used our Navman Mio all over France it was excellent :j

I second that, I have had mine about 2 years now and dont think i have had a time that it couldn't find anything bar new builds in NI.
