You have got 2 anti virus programs running there

Not sure it's worth me replying anymore, but if you have 2 antivirus programs, you'll have a nightmare! They'll conflict, cause massive problems, including a very slow computer. They will work against each other. Only EVER have one anti-virus program installed.
Personally I'd disconnect from the internet, remove both, rebooting after removing each one, to ensure all remnants are removed. Then reinstall the one you want.0 -
Right I will get rid of AVG then, that should free up some memory0

Once you only have 1 antivirus, try running this: http://www.ccleaner.com
It removes any old temp filesI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

It won't have much effect on your memory but it should improve your performance. I agree with isofa, remove both and reinstall the one that want to use. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I thought Zone Alarm was a firewall and AVG was anti-virus?

I'm running Zone Alarm Pro and AVG 8 on Windows XP, with Sky Broadband.
Could I safely remove one of these? (My PC is now six years old and could do with some tweaks to speed it up :rotfl: )Proud to be dealing with my debts!

No because they do totally different jobs! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
No you should be fine, you might not even need zone alarm if you have an updated windows firewall though.
The windows XP firewall does not give any outbound protection, so continuing to using ZA is much better!
