Has anyone got any ideas on how I can speed my machine up at home, It has 3gb of ram, a 2.4 ghz dual processor but still takes ages to load up. I have disbled some of the programs at start up but that hasnt done much at all. There is not viruses or spyware as I am always checking.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

How long have you had the computer?
A clean install of XP may really speed things up.0 -

Was it fast after the clean install? Or has it always been sluggish? Was it a proper backup everything, wipe hard disc and install from scratch; or just reinstalling XP over the top of everything?0 -
It was quicker, after the clean install, I always wipe the drive clean before reinstalling, I have an external drive which I back up all the things I wanted to keep to.0
