Morning all,
smoky, <<<hugs>>.
I'm scared. My daughter is leaving home on Monday...I know many of you have been through this before and survived but it doesn't stop me from worrying.
So today is lots of washing and ironing and packing. Tea will be chicken fried rice and I have lots of apples so I might make an apple crumble or apple pie.

Slow cooker has lentil soup in it for tonight and have put a portion of lentils aside to make lentil pate as well.
Will make home made burgers this afternoon with turkey mince and either another loaf or dough for bread rolls.
DD(22) might be coming home from Oxford later tonight so want to iron the bedding and make up the bed nicely.
DD(14) wants to make apple crumble for her so that means me trekking out to the shops again to get the ingredients!!!!
Going to have a shower, get changed and tidy the kitchen before going out.
Hugs to everybody especially Smokey."This site is addictive!"

Off to recycle some garden rubbish in a mo and the allotment.

Pink,
I know just how you feel, I felt like i'd lost an arm when DD went to UNI, I still miss her like mad even though she's now 25 and has not lived at home since graduating.
I hated it when DS went 3 years later but he returned home after graduating last year and is eating me out of house and home - I love it.0 -

Staffordshire oatcakes are a bit like a crepe, made from a top secret recipe, and we buy them from our local oatcake shops
We usually eat them with mixed grills, but they are fabulous filled with cheese, sausage, bacon etc. and then rolled up and scoffedYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Thanks so much Ivyleaf, churchie, snoozer and candygirl.
I'm probably being very silly but because we live in Ireland it's as though she's going to a different country. Normally I'd talk to Haribo about this sort of stuff but she's had a dreadful experience this week and I don't want to upset her more.
Thank you all for your support. It means more than you can know.

Pink-winged - it is one of the worst things about being a parent. I absolutely hated it when DS1 left to go to university until the end of the first weekend when he phoned to say that he was really enjoying it. He wasn't far away so was able to come back for a Sunday roast which was brilliant for all of us! I was just as bereft when DS2 left to move into his new house and he's only ten minutes drive away. It's a big wrench but it's what being a parent is all about. Just be proud that she has been brought up to feel confident about looking after herself. Good luck to her and (((hugs))) to you.
Well, I've just been food shopping and I was really careful about what I bought. I stuck to my list, got a few bargains and enough meat to last quite a while - most of it will be bulked out with lentils and other things and I am going to attempt to do a proper meal plan and not just scribble something down on a piece of paper which then gets lost!
Well, I'd better get the shopping put away and prep the bacon and mushrooms for tonight's spaghetti carbonara.
See you later.

How much? Postie has just been and I have my new television licence. I've been paying by direct debit for years now and don't take much notice of how much it is these days. I've just looked and it's £139! I can hardly believe it costs that much!
