Yeah £270 as opposed to £153 if I stay with the 1.7%. Now I'm worried that we'll have a boom and interest rates will rocket and then I'll kick myself for locking myself in at a fixed rate ... it's so confusing! Maybe I'll just go out and spend it instead!

Nah, I'll go into the branch tomorrow lunchtime and ask how I'd go about putting my various pots of cash in. The £200 OD will be easily paid off, I could probably put in about £20 a week and not notice it and it'll be gone in a couple of months.

Almost doubled then, very good idea to switch! I don't think there'll be a boom any time soon. Maybe next year though, in which case you'll be free to take your pick again.

Decided to leave the CC for now, work on my savings then in a year or so have another whack at it. I think I might get all too tempted to buy nice things!

You're right, that's just what I was thinking, next year might be different. That's my little task for tomorrow lunchtime then :) I feel happier now I've got a plan, bit nervous to see how much interest I didn't earn last year though! :(

I think there's no harm to leave the CC plan for now, there's nothing you despereately need to build your rating up for at the minute is there? I guess if you have a period in your life that you're thinking of moving out/getting a car loan/whatever, then maybe take out a card about a year beforehand.

In my head plan I want to move out when I'm 20, so if I take one out when I'm 19 I should be okay. Yikes, I'll be 20 in two years. That's alarming!

Sounds like a good lunchtime plan to me! I think the trick for interest is to keep you expectations really low, then you're always going to be pleased!

"A pessimist is never disappointed" wasn't that a song by Theaudience, when Sophie Ellis-Bextor used to be in a band instead of doing Rimmel adverts? Scarily Cinny, you were probably only about 5 and I went to one of their gigs! I'll be 30 in 3 years!!

Another year then to save and not worry about credit ratings, sounds good!

I know of Theaudience. I have to say though, I prefer Sophie Ellis-Bextor over Kate Moss!

That does sound good! I was talking to my sister about the ISA last night (her eyes slightly glazed) and she suddenly sprung to life 'You're pretty weird, getting excited over and ISA, you should be getting exicted over new shoes or.. chanel!' In my defence I do get excited over new shoes, but they normally come in a sale with a free P&P code! :D

ETA: I'm off now (well the other office girl is due in any second) have a nice afternoon everyone!

Hello my lovelies! I'm 2-10ing it again today, back to normal tomorrow! Look at everyone being all financy, Dinah will be so pleased! Even I've been at the bank today, we've opened up a joint account and got a new CC to transfer the outstanding balance of my 'Big' one onto because it's 0% for 11 months. We got the Halifax reward thingy which means we get £5 bonus every month in our account as long as there's £1000 going in each month which there will be so that's an extra £60 a year for nothing! I also found out that I had £160 in my 'empty' Halifax current account so that's good! I haven't checked it for ages because it was used to put my lodge for my Mum in it and the money wasn't spent, she just wanted it as a back up 'just in case' but she asked me transfer it over to a Post Office savings account last year and I must have paid more into it after transferring the money without realising!

Very bored at the minute as there was a 'slight hiccup' with the morning shift and they accidentally ran every single order in the warehouse which is over 10,000 'picks' instead of the 300 or so that they wanted so it's been running for an hour and a half and there's nothing I can do until it is finished! When it is sorted I'll be on a mad catch up so it's not good! I feel a KitKat moment coming...

    Hey Ladies

I love Darcy, Cinny. The green is beautiful and how nice your area looks too from the pic.

I'm going to open a new ISA with Natwest and transfer in my Kent Reliance ISA cash. It seems like quite a good rate and I bank with them already. There's a better deal with Barclays though - check out the article from Martin.

Hi Birdie and well done on the financy things! I'd seen that account advertised and thought there must be some catch to them giving you £5 a month (like having to pay £70 a year for it!) but sounds like not so brill! I now have a webex to do tomorrow at 12 as well as my meeting at 1 so I'm gonna have to pop out to the bank about 2 - bloomin lunchtime meetings! I'm going to have to eat my dinner whilst on the webex, will have to mute my phone so they can't hear it!

I feel for you in the calm before the storm at work, I've been like that the last few weeks, waiting for people to make decisions so I can get on with it, knowing the longer they take the more manic it's going to be! Just remember you can only do what you can do and don't get stressed over it. (Also on a financial note, I've just realised I've not invoived for some things that should have been invoiced a while back and I have a feeling there'll be repercussions as todays the last day in the tax year ... I don't want to enquire about it now in case there's a mad panic to try and get it done before 5 and I don't want that. Am I a bad lazy person? :o
