The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Thanks girls! I know I'd be in a much better position if I hadn't got myself into all this stupid debt... Looking on the bright side though, in a couple of years when I've paid it off, I'll have an extra £650/700 a month (minimum!) and can start moving forward - yay! My aim is to be debt free by the time I'm 30 (20/11/2011) which should happen fairly easily even with a couple of holidays in the mean time. Maybe not this year though... OH has got a football trip to Milan coming up and he'll probably go diving with his boys (friends, not kids!) so at least I don't feel guilty about depriving him too!
Dinah, I'm sorry about NIM's job - I really do know how disappointing it is! Birdie's right, at least he's got something at the moment and he can drop it when something better comes along. Which it will! Try not to get too despondentLBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -

Bless NIM, still keeping his manners about him! He's bound to be gutted, but he'll be alright soon. At the end of the day it's just a job, there'll be plenty more. Even more perfect for him!
Poddle - must be a pain not being able to attack the debt! I know it isn't the best way to look at it but at least the money is there for when you need it. When you're back on your feet you'll be able to go at it with all the pent up energy you've got now!0 -

You're telling me! OH and I have no savings after all the house movey things, he's going to be off work till about June with his knee (I'm really hoping he can get in before April 28th for his op, he's at the top of the cancellation list so fingers crossed!), work will only pay him until about May(ish) and now I'm at risk so we can't even be sure that my wage is guaranteed! I have a feeling that once the 'restructure' is finished my salary will be reduced to be in line with regular admin rates as I'm on a bit more because of extra jobs I do but they'll prob take them off me so they can pay me less!
OH's best friend is out of work and he had to go and 'sign on' last week and he said that the job centre is awful. Full of chavs (he actually overheard a conversation about how some bloke nearly got knived and said 'Maaaate, what ya doing? I'll deck ya'. Anyway, where was I? Yes, awful JC, the staff are so used to work dodgers who lie about applying for jobs that they didn't believe him when he told them that he had genuinely applied for jobs! I think that there should be a job centre for horrible chavvy work dodgers and one for nice people who want to work and need help to find it!
ETA: Jeez, in the time it took me to write this there were loads of posts! This was in response to Dinah's comment about the job situation being scaryfying!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
