Hey everyone
Well I still haven't had my uni interview yet - I think the poor guy is still sick. Hopefully next week. All my application forms are filled in and I am just waiting for one transcript and I'm ready to go - hopefully next week, eh?
In the meantime I'm back to moneymaking as there's a lot to save by September and I really want/need a new computer! So this morning I have signed up for MSs and done some of the training tests and stuff. Yesterday I signed up for the daily clicks, no spend quidclan etc. I have also signed up to STP, and am on my way to scratchies. I forgot it's a lot of work at the beginning before you get into the groove.
Pics of the crystals are 50% done, and I dug out a few more bits for ebay. This week I am back to work for 2 days, and then back for good 3 days per week. When the uni forms are all submitted I'll be looking for another pt job, am thinking call centre? Until uni starts in October.
Thanks for the info about the scratchies Dinah! And the inspiration of course:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
So much for my furgal week! Will have to be next now. Me and OH went to ikea so he could look at wardrobes. I ended up getting a new table, shelf and bed cushions  Surprisingly only spent £32! But friday I ran out of shampoo for my pup (has bad skin so needs special stuff) so £9 there, ended up getting carried away at pets at home too! There's no helping me, but on the good side my bedroom looks fantastic!
Hope everyone has a nice rest of sunday, I'm off to catch the end of to kill a mocking bird! It really winds me up though
Lara - Hopeful for this week then! Money making is really easy once you get into it, does take some time though!0 -
Ooo nice bedroom funriture, Cin. How cool! What did you get?
Yes, it's going well on Quidco etc. I haven't managed the scratchies yet as have no free cash to do the deposits. I earned enough for rent and bills, but am spending Paul cash on everything else - feeling a bit guilty. A company he has done a lot of work for has just gone into liquidation owing him £4000, so not a good weekend. Maybe he will get some of the money, put perhaps not, so that's a bit of a blow.
Not good news about the soldiers and civilians shot in Northern Ireland - Antrim is my home town. I used to work in one of the pizza places there when I was a teenager.
Just upgrading my proposal a bit, putting in the relevant literature. Today I have to finish it, email the Lancaster prof, email my referees, and clean the house as we're having some friends round for dinner. Hope I can get the meeting over this week coming - I am quite excited about the possibility of MSs! Signed up with Bare and Retail Eyes - lots of jobs in London, some paid, some dinners only.
Hope everyone is having a cool weekend x:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Morning all!
Bad news for you OH re: the money Lara, hope he gets paid! And I hope your interview is soon!
Cinny, no-one can blame you for getting carried away in Ikea, I'm impressed you spent so little! :T You need new bedroom furniture to go with your new bed anyway so it's OK!
We finally told both sets of parents that we're engaged so it is official! :j I'm wearing my ring on my finger now and it feels very strange! I keep getting distracted by it when I'm typing! The diamond is bigger than I first thought so it'll take some getting used to I think! :j
I decided to make use of my nice clear desk last night and started a new page for my scrapbook, OH was horrified when he saw how much stuff was scattered about and even more horrified when I told him that I'd put it away when I was finished... I have a feeling that it'll be neatly put away by the time I get home so I'll have to find everything all over again! It is such a pain living with a neat freak!:rolleyes:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Yay! We are still getting a DOTD even though it's out in the open though, right?
That's a right bottom for your OH Lara - I don't want to put a bigger dampener on it but last year roughly the same thing happened to us, I think we got about £40 for our troubles. Your OH will be okay though won't he?
I was shocked myself Birdie! I did actually get quite a lot for that as well. My room looks much better for it (picture on my flickr) can't wait for the new bed.
OH is starting to look at flats, just sent off for a place I found on right move - £100 a week, furnished with bills included and a gym on site. Be so odd if he was to have his own place! Only around the corner from the office too, so I could make him bring me food at dinner0 -
Sorry to hear about your OH's job Lara, £4000 is a lot to loose. Hopefully you'll get your interview soon.
NIM and I had a nice, relaxing weekend. Saturday he took his car into the garage, then went to work. After work we went over to the gym for a bit, then took the evening 'off' and did no money making. Sunday we knuckled down to the books, and got about 50% of them done. Most went on RiSi rather than Amazon in the end mind. Being good and not requesting any books until midweek, then NIM should have lots of parcels to post when he does his round of stamp shop MSs next week. Went to the gym again yesterday night, was lovely and quiet. Saw my brother's gf but couldn't say hi as she was with her mother (Muslim family, she has been seeing my brother in secret for over a year). Going to the gym again tonight, an hour and a half-ish in the gym itself, and then an hours pilates. With NIMs car in the garage I need to go pick him up, I may never find my way there mind, Billingham is all a maze to me!
NIM has decided to put in an application for the police. He went into law with the idea he wanted to put things right, he thinks this would suit him as he would be more at the forefront than the lawyer thing. He's undecided between police and teaching, but each force only has a 1 week application period approx every year or two, so he's putting in now as one of our local forces are recruiting until Wednesday. So that's what he's busy doing today.
Got some free cinema tickets for tomorrow night, but NIM is at work, so have offered them to mum (same initial as me), if she doesn't want them will have to cancel them.
Spending a lot of time trying to work out the best (and least confusing) way for NIM and I to manage our money. We have our savings chart for the savings, it's the day to day money that needs more management. But it's hard with him having so little coming in, plus he defers all money management to my more expert skills, which again is hard when I don't actually have access to his account! He's already shown he is not remotely greedy (paying off my CC for example) and that he considers all money pool money anyway, I'm thinking it might be time to repay that trust, and show him I'm not in fact tarring him with the same brush as my ex by agreeing to a joint account. I said I wouldn't do it again, but our finances are all joint anyway with the whole savings thing, just not legally joint. It's stupid cos it doesn't mean anything, but I wouldn't be so wavery if we were engaged, and I would downright demand it if we were married. I'm just scared he's going to change his mind, and while I don't think he would screw me for money, it's extra mess that would need clearing up. Not sure whether to say to him 'okay, give me online access to your account, I'll manage the money between the two accounts, and sort the savings etc, and if your situation changes, then this will be reviewed'. I know only I can know this answer so I'm really just rambling.
Bit of good news today though, got my 5 years service at work, so my holiday entitlement has gone up to 32 days a year +12 flexi days.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh course my dear! I have to start shopping properly now!OH is starting to look at flats, just sent off for a place I found on right move - £100 a week, furnished with bills included and a gym on site. That would be so nice for you if OH got his own place, it's lovely being able to spend time together alone, even if he lives with friends it is very different to living with parents! And imagine all the decorating you could do! It would warrant another trip to Ikea!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. If you can figure out the best way to sort out your finances let me know, OH and I still haven't opened a joint account and money is all over the place at the moment! Maybe get the joint account once he's working for 'real' money and things are more even?
Good news about the holidays, that's really good! Our company gives us 25 days after 2 years service and no more! You used to have to work there for 15 years before getting that full entitement but they changed it a couple of years ago. We don't get flexi either apart from a couple of lieu days if we have to work holidays like Good Friday which we're doing this year, I'm not bothered as I could do with an extra day holiday but half the workforce have gone mad about working it! The worst complainers (bearing in mind that everone is being assessed for redundancy at the moment and we should be happy that we still have jobs!) are going on about how it is like Easter Sunday and the company is obliged to give us the day off... I'd be surprised if any of them ever stepped foot in a church in their lives so it's not like they need the day off for church services!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I've told him to think about it properly, he's still in debt and I think he should take advantage of living at home while he can and clear it. But I get where he's coming from, he pays £45 a week board + council tax and for that he gets to share a room with his 2 brothers and step brother, and buy almost all his food. I'm mentally buying cushions and lamps for the flat already.
Dinah - that's good news about the holidays and flexi days! As for opening a joint account with NIM, it would make the money management easier but don't do it just because you think you should to show more trust/commitment. You've got hurt in the past, and that whole deal with A&L would put anyone off the idea and I'm sure NIM understands that.
And I think that's enough Agony Aunt Cinny for today!0
