Don't think I would mind being this age if I was doing the grown up things you are Birdie! But I'm still doing the things I was doing at 17, so I might as well be a bairn again really!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
My Mum is my downfall too, she's like the little devil sitting on my shoulder saying, 'But you need a new dress! It doesn't matter if you've got 4 still with the tags on, none are as pretty as this one! And how about shoes...'
Mothers are the worst aren't they?!
Although I should add they are very proud of my saving habits. Compair me to my sister who is now talking about cashing in her premium bonds to buy a car, my grandparents have been getting us those for years and I'm pretty darn sure they're meant to be used as a house deposit not a car! She's just paid off her chanel bag, and now she's after a £400 LV scarf that Alexa Chung has. And I think I'm bad if I spend £40 on a dress! I don't have a clue how we've turned out so differently.
Now please excuse me while I do the Bart Man along to the radio0 -
Will someone please expalin to D OH that she is doing much more than she was at 17 and is in no way a bairn anymore. I keep trying but apparently I've been tuned outThis was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

You're not though Dinah, you're digging yourself out of it. I had to move back home a couple of years ago in order to 'grow up', while I was living away I couldn't afford to do anything like learn to drive or pay off my debt but that's done now and I'm in a position where I could move out comfotably anytime, whereas before I couldn't sleep for worrying. Anyway, enough of the ageism... I'm (sob!) 27 :eek:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

It has all come very quickly for me Dinah! 4 months ago I was living with my parents talking about 'maybe one day if we feel like it' moving in with OH! Life can move very speedily at times after not doing much for a long time!
On the savings side, I wish I'd been saving since age 17! I've never been great with money and wish I could reform! I'm sure I will once I'm paying a mortgage as I'll have no money to waste!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I'd like to see a bairn slashing 13k worth of debt in the time you have, saving a house deposit and filling ISAs. You need to cut yourself way more slack Lady!
Birdie - heard anything about the flat yet today?
I fancy a spike off a pineapple cheese hedgehog now!0 -

I'd like to see an adult slash as much debt and save for a big house deposit as Dinah!
I'm not quite sure what is going on Flat-wise! I rang the solicitor's complaint woman and moaned about my useless solicitor and she said she'd find out what was going on. She called back after a bit and said that I should have had a call from someone on my team. I hadn't. She said she'd speak to them again and get them to call. They still didn't call so I got fed up and called them and spoke to the bloke whose team it is but who seems fairly clueless. They've got a check to do online (how can that take a whole day? It's on the internet! I'd do it if they gave me the website!) but he asked me if I wanted him to request the money from my lender now... erm let me think about this... yes! Idiot. I don't know how NIM has had difficulty finding a law job Dinah, my solicitors seem to have recruited from the local clown college!:rolleyes:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I don't know how you've managed to stay so calm! They really are taking the biscuit. Hopefully someone with half a noggin will come and sort it out and you'll never have to deal with them again!
And of course except us Tete, we are highly skilled peoplez0 -
It's atrocious Birdie, at this point I'd have told them to stuff their flat - then written a letter to the vendors telling them exactly why you pulled out!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
