    Morning all

Had a lovely day with my friend in York yesterday, very long lunch and a little wander around the shops (was pretty good, got some hotel chocolat chocs for mums birthday as she wanted them to go with her other gift I got her, and an advent candle). We don't see each other that much, but after about 2 hours talking, and quite a bit of discussion of my OH she looked at me funny and said 'you think he's the one, don't you?' - seems she can still read me incredably well!

Went and got a load more stuff out the shed this morning to try and get in the last day of 5p ebay listing. Also found a few more books CDs and games which can go on amazon tomorrow. Going to start the ebay listing now, took the photos this morning.

OH found a comic shop in his town so he's going to try to speak to the guy see if he will buy all my comics as a lot, or even if he knows anyone who would.

On a completely seperate note (squeemish look away now) does anyone wear contacts and have a great trick for getting one out of your eye if it's gone round the back?! It's driving me mad as it's been nearly 24 hours.

Can you blink in some water, in the sink then put a tight in the plug hole so the water will drain away but leave contact lens behind?

Tried that last night, was a stubborn lens. Finally came out on its own today, had sheered in two and scratched my eye

Sold one more book today, but only for 1p so about 20p profit. So far today I have done 15 ebay listings, going to try to do another 10 after dinner to get in under the 5p listings. One of them is the fender guitar my dad got me after a breakup about 5 years ago. Have started it at £50, any less than that and its just not worth it to me.

5 days until OH is back :j

    hi,
sorry to hear about the hassle that you are having with the council tax, i rang them the day after OH moved in to tell them, and then rang them again a few weeks ago. Apparently nothing happened when i first rang them and i'm lucky they aren't charging me a fine for not telling them within 21 days or something. The bloomin cheek! Also kept saying if you can't pay then tell us straight away - i've never been late, or had trouble paying so where did they get off with that one?
I did the LPC in York the year it became the LPC ( a long time ago now). I'm now an accountant - guess that, in hindsight i wish i'd not done the course as it was the first debt i got into paying the tuition fees, i even managed to get through uni without owing anyone a penny.

Rather than French doors I have one of those low, deep windowsills with cushions in it... [duh... a 'windowseat' Lucy ], but it does overlook rolling hills, so it does fit with the I Capture the Castle theme! I also really enjoyed this book I have to say, maybe we should start a MSE Book Group... only reading books that are a couple of years old of course so we can get them in charity shops or on Amazon?!

Hope you manage to get sorted re. council tax.. The annoying thing is is that the people who live there now are probably bang up to date and the council aren't owed any money at all.

What's this Living North thing you speak of? Like a Christmas market? Sounds very interesting...

That's an nice idea! I bet we could get a fair few people interested too.

4days now! Sounds like you had fun in York too!

Yep I'd be up for a bookgorup too. Bet half the secondhand books on amazon are from MSE'rs too :p

Living North is a Christmas Fair, pretty big, been going a few years at Newcastle Racecourse (which was last weekend) but for the first time they're coming to Wynyard Hall this weekend (Fri and Sat) so I'm going to have a browse. I like the food hall best, so many free samples! Last year my favourite had to be the little samples of sticky toffee pudding with custard.... well, that or the whiskey! Went last year and came away all full of ambition that by this year I would have a stall there for my paintings like all the other people there, and I think I've completed all of 1 painting in that time!

  • I've popped that into Google and it looks lovely and only down the road so will probably pop in for a mooch. I went to the Good Food Show in the summer and we were like little Pac-Men chomping our way from stall to stall getting all the free samples. Maybe next year for your stall, you've been so busy debt-busting this year of course!

Hope you two have fun chomping your way through free food! I'll be at meadowhall pushing my way through saturday christmas crowds (not so fun!) Going to treat myself to a new book. In all its new book-smelly glory. (Any ideas?) and a christmas-y starbucks.

How's the guitar going on ebay?
