I constantly go the wrong way when I'm out walking, Tete. Sounds like you had fun though! The worst thing about walking is afterwards when you're really hungry and walking past all the cosey looking, nice smelling pubs.

Spent far too much today! Weather was okay so me and OH went into town. Bought some new storage boxes for my room and bits for work, somehow managed to total up £20 in asda  (thankfully no junk food, and got my dinner for tomorrow) spent the afternoon cosied up after it started to rain listening to the radio and munching on said food.

Really want to try a NSW but the daily something are giving out 'free' period drama dvds. In the long run I'd be saving myself a pretty penny, right?
  • Ooh, the daily what, can you remember?

No pubs where we were, but I'd made us a flask of soup, the same veg soup I always make which OH LOVES, but becuse I'd blitzed it to get it in the flask, it looked 'like sick' and he wouldn't touch it! Grrr!

Sounds like you've had a lovely day cosied up Cinny. I've been out in the wind showing Grandma how to use the 'hole in the wall'! Snuggled up with the kitties now, but about to go and put another layer on, it's FREEZING!

It's the daily mail I think, they were giving out cranford this weekend. But I'm mainly wanting the newer Jane Eyre that was on UKTVHistory over christmas. Is it wrong I watched that 2 days straight?

That sounds just like something my OH would do, he's so picky about food. Still, more for you! Bless your gran, although when I read it I thought you were on about the tv program and wondered why your grandma would be going on that? :o

    Yes :o

Hi all, hope you're feeling better now Dinah, great news about the A&L account, must feel like a massive weight's been lifted! Was that the Grand Designs I saw with them builing a new house in a little chocolate box village? Had her parents paid for it?! I missed the beginning but that was the impression I got so I didn't like them on that basis! OH was impressed to learn about the insulated wall panels or whatever they were but was annoyed that the upstairs windows weren't escape windows

I now need to add 'job application' to my to do list - anyone got any advice on applying for something that you're not necessarily qualified for, but you think you'll be good at? :o

Sounds like your walk was nice Tete, I'm quite jealous - seriously bored of being inside now. Not feeling any better really, spent most of today in bed, a step in the wrong direction I think! Read a whole book though so my 200 strong 'to read pile' is slightly decreased :D

Ooooh what job are you going for? Find experiences or qualities in you that relate to the job and play them up, its amazing what you have experience of when you really think about it!

Yep it was the chocolate box village. They built this really boring dormer bungalow that they kept emphasising wasn't an executive cookie cutter house.... yeah right that's self delusion love. I get the definite impression parental bank balances entered into it, who is married and building their own house at 25 without a little helping hand?! Is your OH a building inspector?

  • Haha, I forgot about that prog Ciny, Only seen it once but quite enjoyed it! Can't really see Grandma in one of those tight suits tho!

Job is International Officer but it pays about 10k more than I'm on now, which is the main reason why I think I can't possibly be qualified enough, but the job description sounds a lot like what I do now, only with a bit of travel abroad thrown in (as opposed to going to Gosforth or Stanley or Spennymoor!). OH says to ring up and have a 'crack on' with the contact person, which is all very well for him, but I'd feel distinctly uncomfortable doing that! Two weeks to put the app together though so we'll see.

OH is a building control surveyor, he hates being called an inspector! Yeah they kept saying "It's not an executive home" in the same way you might say "it's not a mud hut", silly people. I couldn't see what either of them did for a living, but hubby looked a bit uncomfortable in his suit and seemed a bit gormless so I think definitely bit of help from daddy there!

Ahh, I think I've seen that one! Personally, I'd rather spend that amount of money on buying a nice period house than building my own, but I looove watching Grand Designs.

Good luck with the job, Tete! Although Spennymoor sounds lovely (actually I think I've been there!) going abroad sounds alot nicer. Everyone seems to be changing jobs atm!

Actually got bids on my ebay items I put on the company account which makes a change! And just sold a book on amazon *clap clap*

Lol Spennymoor isn't particularly lovely unless your hometown happens to be in Gaza or Afganistan! You'd have had very little reason to go Cinny, it's the dark side of the moon. Ruled by scary gangs of roaming chavs (used to work for one of their museums).

I'd love to build my own house, but it wouldn't be a replica anything, would have to be a unique piece of design in its own right. I hate it when new things pretend to be old.

    To do list for today:
    30 Ebay listings
    Wrap all parcels
    Mi-info
    Onepoll
    Do all surveys
    Free scratchies
    Call Alliance & Leicester
    Do remaining free quidco offers

Still feeling rubbish today, but doctor says there is no point going back until I have substantially completed my steriods so I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if I pick up.

I think it's hard to recreate old houses, I've never seen one where they've actually captured the loveliness of them in a new build. It's the history that makes it nice, I don't think all the reclaimed slates in the world could measure that!

Hope you're feeling better soon, you could always go for little mooch if you're feeling better later and still sick of being indoors?

Silly doctor told me I had to stay indoors in the warm and dry until I can breathe easier. I feel like the boy in the bubble! I can see outside, I just can't touch it. On the plus side STP is back up, and I'm getting a steady stream of dire rap!

I thought that was about the crux of your job-making new things fit in?! I have to say, Cinny's comment about reclaimed slate reminded me that I loved the roof with all the orange tiles dotted about :o. I want to live in a windmill!

Hadn't realised there were museums in Spenny, I've only seen the industrial estate to be honest! Going to print off the job details today and try desperately to think of ways in which I fulfill the essential criteria, but for now, work to get on with. Hope you feel better soon dearie!
