We got my brothers Dell for £380, and its a very nice spec for an 'ordinary' user, but he uses it basically for the internet and college. Got the inspiron not the basic model too. I do a lot of gaming and also want to have a more capable graphics facility so I need it to run quicker and have better running power for applications than he requires.
Priced up the model I want, £677, better than expected and enough of an upgrade on the other one to not really make it a competition. Have posted on the techie forum to ask about a couple of possible upgrades. Will speak to OH tonight, if he thinks it's a good idea too I will go for it, although I'll bet he'll be after a new one himself if I get one as his is only portable as long as it is plugged into the mains - bit rubbish!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lol thanks Flower. I'm feeling a bit less faint now, might go in the morning (I know, keep putting it off!)
All these people with their romantic weekends away, lucky beggars! I'm back to Limerick next weekend, but I'm not sure that counts!
Get quidco on the laptop too, so that's another £27 off it really.... I'm actually kind of talking myself into it because I don't want to spend money but I know I really could do with a new one!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I say go for it Dinah, at the rate you're going an extra £500 or so to pay off will only set you back an extra two weeks!
On the subject of laptops, I got a new one from Santa (an Acer, oh dear, I thought it seemed brill) and it made me start thinking what to do with the old one. I haven't actually used it for years, it's a very old Sony Vaio and there's no way I could sell it it's that old and useless, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a recycling company that pays, you know like for mobiles? I've done a couple of searches on here but only found recycling for free companies.
CMD, I'm jealous! Barca is my most favouritest city ever!! I'm looking for cheap hotels for Valentines weekend but not having much luck, unless I'm willing to travel to the other end of the country :rolleyes:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

With all of your knowledge, dedication and experience in paying off debt you should write a book (or at the very least a small, 20 page e-book that can be sold on Amazon or Ebay to people like us). Maybe you can call it 'It's nice to be debt free' or 'The debt buster diaries', something catchy. I'm sure plenty of people will buy it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Spares/repair types only seem to be going for 99p if that, not sure it's worth the hassle. Will check model number when I get home and search on that and see...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Does it still work or not? If it works someone will buy it. My last one had the processing power of my calculator and someone used BIN for £199, think it was a uni student with a new loan, a dissertation due and a dead computer!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
