Hope you had a good one too CMD, do anything exciting?

I know I need to go, used my inhaler more in the last 3 days than the last year! I'm just stubborn and hope it will go away on its own!

Overdosed on family. I was home for 2 weeks!!! No, it was good to be back and my parents always make a big fuss which is nice. I do love getting back into the routine again though. It is hard living out of a suitcase for 2 weeks.

Am off to Barcelona for the weekend with OH this weekend so looking forward to that (birthday present for me) and I have been able to withdraw some savings from home so it should make a reasonable dent in my signature in the next few weeks.

What did you get up to for New Year in Limerick? Did you get nice Xmas presents???

Need a break to get over the break huh!

Barcelona sounds nice, hope it's warmer than here.

Limerick was equally busy, OH got me a lovely bracelet and parents got some holiday vouchers and some craft stuff, jammies and a money box and cute bits and pieces off OH and general choccie goodness.

I told myself I could get a new laptop when I'm debt free, however Dell has a sale on at the moment and I would be saving around £200. Given I should be able to sell mine for £200ish, the total I would end up paying would be around £500 (Yes I know, I want a really high spec one! No point getting one that'll just about cope now, but struggle within a year). I'm very tempted to order it now. All my debts are 0%, I can't overpay my family loan, and I expect to be within £500 clear of the 0% CC2 by the end of the month if I buy the laptop (yup, I also realise I'd be clear of this if I didn't, that's tempting). But as I've said before I shop when I'm feeling sorry for myself and this lack of breathing thing certainly is that so I don't know what to do! Current laptop is 3 years old, and is non portable as it has to be propped up on candle holders so enough air goes under it I can run videos and games, and I can't get the software on it that I want in order to do the graphics for the invitations and the design stuff that I want to be doing. Which is my main incentive really, I've put up with it cutting out for ages, but being able to start the art thing properly is very tempting.

Yeah defo need a break much and all as I love them!!!

I think you should go for it. You worked very hard in 2008 to clearing a lot of your debts and your laptop is your vehicle to earning extra cash. Your attitude to money has changed as well so once you clear your debts I can't see you every racking them up again. Hope no-one shoots me down for telling you to go for it but I feel you deserve it!

By the way, I know what you mean about a good high spec laptop. Mine is a Sony and it has never let me down in 3 years so I think you get what you pay for.

    Surveys
    Onepoll
    Mi-info
    Call A & L
    50 Dooyoo tracks
Wrap books and 5 ebay items
Pay £3.75 to NEXT and cancel account so they stop sending catelogues I have to pay for
Research laptop and make decision as sale ends today

Mine's an Acer and it just can't handle anything. I want a Dell as my brother and OH have one and they just seem completely reliable and quick, plus I can get it in a colour other than black or silver (girlie reasoning coming in here!). No it's nice to hear someone thinking my logic isn't utterly weak! I'm really excited about designing my own invitations and seeing if it takes off, but I keep thinking 'when I'm debt free' because the laptop can't do it, but I could do it now, if it takes off then I might get debt free quicker, if it doesn't, I still have the laptop to do the rest of the stuff!

Morning everyone! Thought I'd pop on before I need to get changed for work.

I agree with clearmydebts. You really do deserve a treat, and it is something you could do with not wasteless tat. It's not very MSE to say it, but it's true!

Had a row with my Dad this morning so I'm feeling sorry for myself, not looking forward to be trapped in an office with him. He wanted me to get him the payroll sheet when I get to work, which I don't have as I passed it on to my uncle and lord knows where he files them away. He turned that horrible red colour only dads can and blew his top. Guessing something's getting to him at work but he was only saying monday how he's feeling much more relaxed as my brother has taken on most of his work load. Maybe he's worried about what he's going to do next? Quite worried for him. Sorry, I'm rambling!

Maybe handing over responsibility is stressfull for him? I'm terrible, I can't let go. OH tried to make me dinner on New Years eve, I ended up taking over and cooking most of it!

Take a deep breath and get a biccie love.

I'm liking the opinions on here this morning! Have priced up the cheaper of the two options, which ends up at £628. But I'm not sure it will cope with what I want, hoping the one I really want is under £720.

Hm, I think so. Plus the company has been his life for the last 30 years. I'm refusing to learn how to price items just so it gives him that little thing he can do for me. Only I'm pretending I can't get my head around it. I really need to kick start the whole ebay for the company again, we made abit from it before christmas but I haven't had time to pick it up again this year.

I think are opinions are spot on on this thread! Laptops are pricey things, I was thinking of getting a dell for OH, but I might have to settle for the best I can afford with those prices! I find with 'impulse' buying, it's best to get yourself in the right state of mind the 'I deserve the best!' one, buy it while thinking you're the queen before it wears off. I had to do that with my GHDs last week. It leaves you feeling woozy spending a nice chunk of monies!

Hi Dinah (and everyone else!), christmas was lovely thank you, spent the day with OHs family got lots of lovely presents and OH is taking me away for the weekend as my christmas present :j
New year was very quiet, we decided not to go out as everything is double the normal price and its always so busy anyway, we decided to save the money and OH just cooked a nice meal, then watched DVDs and the count down on tv.

I definatly agree that the laptop does seem a good idea, i know how useless ACER laptops are, i had one myself and i think it lasted about a year and a half before it finally gave up. I now have a dell one (have had it for nearly two years) and i have not had any problems - touch wood!!
Your whole attitude towards money has changed so much and knowing you, you will have paid it off within two weeks!!

Oh, and get yourself to the doctors!!! :D
