I can't work out how breastfeeding works in any normal clothes...I have 4 of these breastfeeding vests which is practically the only thing I have worn since Benjamin was born:

Oo..naked David Tennant.. the things I could do to him... ;)ahem
Sorry, but there's a queue - you'll have to wait in line!
EDIT: whoops, CG beat me to it!

Sami_bee - hmm, lifejacket was similar-ish but it also had material between the legs so she couldn't slip out of it as she was a skinny little thing (still is) and it had a fastener that little ones couldn't open so houdini-style children (DD!) couldn't escape. Shame we didn't keep it but not sure OH would have appreciated Tom wearing a pink lifejacket - he only just accepted him wearing tights all winter and has asked loads of times why I couldn't have got him a toy lawnmower instead of a toy Dyson!
stokegal, Ethan is lovely! You can see the personality in his face already!
Anyone know where you can get small beach-style shoes or sandals that aren't pram shoes? Everywhere I've looked they only seem to start at a size 4 or 5 and Tom is almost into a 3. We took him for new shoes this afternoon (it was calm and restful, honestly!) and he still couldn't get walkers at Clarks as they only start at a 4 so he got cruisers (it's a step up from the crawlers he had to get last time though, because cruisers only start at a 3! Surely there must be a market for smaller baby shoes?)
Oh, good news, the fish has recovered! He would have been away down the toilet if not for an episode of QI I once saw. I told DD that Stephen Fry saved our fish and she thought it sounded like a newspaper headline, lol!0 -
HV got in touch 20+ years ago when DS1 burned his hand at a very young age, and again when he put his head through the back door and needed stitches, but not when he was rushed in ill (allegedly constipation, but who knows?) so a) it's nothing new and b) I think it's usually post-injury rather than post-illness, IYSWIM. And I don't think I was suspected of deliberately holding his hand on the radiator, or of shoving his head through the back door. Just routine ...I know some people panic as I did etc and a few people were shocked that I didn't rush Chris to A&E after he fell down the stairs but I knew he was fine, I watched him for any signs of concussion etc and if he showed any signs I would have had him there in a flash.Does anyone else worry that taking them to hosp may 'alert' SS or even not taking them could? I get annoyed with myself and 'the system' that sometimes I'm scared in case some one who doesn't know us assumes I'm not looking after my child because I did/didn't take him to hospital :undecided
I had a scared feeling in my stomach calling NHS direct when he'd eaten some of my Tums in case they thought I left medicine lying around all the time
I had the advantage that my best friend was a HV and she'd had a baby 6 weeks before me.We muddled through together.

i have kept her off nursery this week as she doesnt want to go and she seems a lot happier at home. Any ideas on what the next steps should be? i dont want to send her back for her to be misrable, howver she does have a good friend in her class who she misses.(there are 10/11 in the nursery class)
I would also see if the HV has any suggestions, but don't hold your breath. You'll need to talk to the nursery too so see what ideas they have.
Sorry if those ideas are completely impractical, mine were always only too happy to be parted from me. :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Aimee broke her arm just before she was 2... I didn't take her to hospital for 3 days... Because she stopped crying within minutes... She could still move her hand and nothing swole up or went black... When she was still complaining of it hurting after 3 days I thought I best get her checked out... I thought social services would be waiting for us as we left when the Dr's kept asking me when she'd done it... But nope... And the health visitor never got in touch at all...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I never bothered with arm bands or swimming jackets or anything like that. I just basically chucked them in and let them get on with it! If you teach swimming with aids such as armbands, they think their arms are really buoyant and then have to re-learn how to swim without the arm bands on when it's time to stop wearing them.
Seats and stuff are good for fun times though. We bought a cute flower one for our holidays last year for Charlotte to play in, and then donated it to some newbies on our last day! Here I go again on my own....0 -

Up to a point I do agree with this and for normal swimming baths trips we don't use anything (I say we, I mean OH!) but on holiday I like them to wear something at water parks and around the pool.
On a similar note, my class started swimming lessons this term and you wouldn't believe how many children have NEVER been swimming before. Hopefully now that swimming is free for under 18s more children will get the chance to go.0 -
I can believe that choc... I have a friend who has actually turned round and told me she would never take her children swimming because 'it's up to the school to teach them'A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
