my sister can't really avoid it as the majority of her little girls class has had it and so its probably inevitable that she gets it, my friend's little boy had chicken pox whilst she was pregnant with her little girl and now shes pregnant again and basically waiting for her little girl to get it as its going round everyone! I won't take Oz to either of their houses if they don't want me to, but they don't seem to think there is any risk when pregnant - at least my sister's doctor said there wasn't.

As he doesnt actually have and has only been exposed to it I don't think I could keep him indoors for 3 weeks as thats apparently how long it can take to show, I don't think anyone does that, because at the minute around here so many kids have it its impossible to know which children have been exposed and which havent.
    I understand :)
I know its a small risk, but not one I will take. I'm more worried I think because this preg hasn't been as smooth as the last. If Chris caught it I'd still have to look after him and would just have to get on with things.
I'm probably going to brave toddler group 2mo, I have been avoiding it out of part laziness part fear of pox :o but I'm staying at mums because our house is a dust bowl from having old ceiling ripped down and new one put up  so hopefully toddlers will tire him out and I'll get a nap - I need more sleep when having to bite my tongue around mum all the time!

PS I've forgotten who it was who thought their DS had dyslexia and or dyspraxia but my mum said you can do a simple test for dyspraxia at home.
If you have flash cards with just 'little' letters on and seperate picture ones. layout the picture ones in alphabetical order in a big arch on the floor then ask them to put the letters underneath the pictures. If they have dyspraxia they will struggle and probably make mistakes

The monkey refused to eat anything for dinner, and only had a piece of toast for lunch, so I'm worried he's hungry. So I thought I'd give him a dream feed, just like the good old days. Warmed some milk in a bottle, snuk into his room...

Good grief, you'd think I was trying to murder him :rotfl:. He was not a happy bunny, refused to open his mouth, so after a few attempts I've left him alone. Baby is now soaked in dribbles of milk, still moaning in his sleep about the invasion, the milk has been donated to the grateful dog and I'm in here hiding out :rolleyes:.

It's official, Joseph is no longer a baby.

  • I'm sure he will eat his breakfast this morning Agutka :)

Izzy kindly woke me up at 5:30 this morning. Now she has gone back to sleep, but it's time to get up (have to take DH to work) so I can't join her... oh well, I will get my own back by being embarrasing when she grows up ;)

We're off to see my Grandad today, as it would have been my Grannys birthday today, the first one since she died last year. Off to distract him with a grinning baby :) Need to get the washing out before we go though, so best crack on!

Had a good day yesterday. Went to St Mary's Lighthouse at Whitley Bay. Had a lovely sunny day. The lighthouse is on a small island just off the coast and is cut off at high tide, so they boys loved that idea. Masses of pools are left on the rocks, so they all had a great time looking for crabs, starfish, etc.

James wanted to climb the lighthouse (137 steep steps) but I wasn't keen with Charlotte. However, she managed to go up and down all the steps by herself, and I just had to carry her for the last 20 or so, which are very steep - more like a ladder! I was really impressed with her for doing that.
Here I go again on my own....

we visited his cousin on wednesday and yesterday chicken pox appeared, so I'm sure Oz will get it now. Any advice to pre warn me? Has anyone's LO had it this young - ie before 12 months?

just had a thought - i'm still breastfeeding Oz - i wonder does that give him any immunity to chickenpox as i've already had it.

Daniel had the pox before 12 months, and i have to say it was nothing compared to when DD got it at about 3 years, far fewer spots and he couldnt itch so didnt have that to worry about... i just covered him in calamine lotion and gave him a gentle rub down if he was looking anxious... but it really sailed by uneventfully,
I should think your BFing will help, but the pox is a mysterious thing... you may get it you may not... id keep your eyes open for the next 2 weeks

    bless! :D
I know its horrible when they refuse a few feeds, but he wont starve himself,
ive always thought its best to look at a what a toddler eats over the course of a week rather than a day to day basis,
if he was hungry he would eat, promise xxx

Agutka, has he eaten his brekkie today?
I find that if Chris is hungry and tired its sleep that wins, I don't even attempt any 'wet' food because he'd prob end up face first in it!! :rotfl:

I think us mum's feel guilty if our bubs haven't eaten much but I try to remember that they are just little people and just like us grown ups, sometimes they're ravenous all day and others they don't facy much

  • ok... ive been having a look online and its impossible to find the answers you want sometimes!
what age did you give your bubbas strawberries? he has strawberry jam and has never had any kind of reaction, but i know the real thing are very allergenic (if thats even the right word! lol)
i dont think it will matter too much as he only had a little bite and spat it out, but as tastes vary from berry to berry, he might have had a slightly sour one!
