lots of thing are in the morning here because older children tend to have preschool in the morning so mums can take babies to things when they are free iyswim. maybe your area is the same?

We keep getting warned about a fake HV turning up around here  apparently it happened but the mum wouldn't let them in, I have no idea when it happened and if it was just the once or if a few mums were targeted but thankfully I know my HV very well and know most of the others pretty well to so unless it was one of them I would def not let them in!!

I've heard that rumour down in the S/E too, and a mate in the midlands said that scare was going round when she had hers four years ago. I think tis perhaps one of those urban myths? Frankly what would a fake HV be able to even do? It's not like anyone leaves their kids alone with them anyway.

the health visitor here said that it had happened close by, the fake HV turns up and asks you to get something thats not in the room and then snatches the baby. She also said someone else was distracted at her front door by someone whilst another person tried to get in the back to get the baby. I don't know if its true or not but I keep my doors locked all the same and I knew my health visitor and when she was coming just in case.

It seems to be the opposite round here - loads of things are early afternoon but Alice has a nap 1-2.30 (used to be 12-2 but gradually got later and shorter) and then has a feed so we are not free until about 3. Doesn't bother me as I don't really want to go but you'd think there'd be a better spread of things so that everyone who wanted to could get to something.

yeah you'd think people who organise these things would try 2 sessions - morning and afternoon to suit everyone.

I actually just found a signing class but its about 25 miles away and i think thats too far.

Nadnad if you're just wanting him to see some other kids what about hanging around the kids section of the library or in Ikea?
There are bookstart groups around here which always seem to be in the afternoon and I don't think I've ever managed a trip to Ikea without spending 1/2 an hours watching Chris play with other LO's (His new favorite thing is hiding in the cupboards and jumping out to scare the other kids :rotfl:)

I've finally found a mom+baby group that i like, at a church! My sister came along to with my niece-she's coming with me again.

Most groups around here are in the morning too, but when my sister first began looking they were all in the afternoon when my niece was in nursery!

My centre runs a group on weds morning and monday and friday afternoons. The wednesday one is always packed whereas the afternoon ones only have a handful of mums attending. Today none of my 'friends' turned up so i was sat on my own, but there's always someone on their own you can chat to, and Joseph gets the same interaction with other toddlers whatever happens.
I pinched a 6 month old little girl from one of the mothers - she had two older ones to run about after - and she was sooooo cute. Watch out for me on the TTC before the year is out ;).

My Mam takes Charlotte to a group in my old school. It's on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, so they go to the Monday morning one as I work then. Mam likes it as some of my old schoolfriends Mam's are there with grandchildren, so they have a good gossip :D

There's a Surestart group in our school on a Friday morning where they do books, songs and rhymes, and sometimes they do pictures and stuff.

The libraries do story times too, but they tend to be on afternoons and Charlotte sleeps then.

My Mam had a major scare today. She had all the children this morning while I was at work and she was bringing them back to mine on her way to work. She got to the end of a dual carriage way and was waiting to turn right at a roundabout when Charlotte opened the car door

Joshua was sitting in the passenger seat and he managed to twist and grab the door and hold it closed until Mam got round the roundabout and could stop safely.

Hope everyone reads this and goes out and puts their child locks on if they haven't already done so.
Here I go again on my own....

i think i live in the least kids friendly area ever! the library is generally deserted and as for Ikea Sami its about 50 miles away!

i'm just going to have to get on the TTC thread and have another one real quick for Oz to play with! :D
