just all of a sudden for the last few nights Daniel screams the place down when we put him to bed, he used to just drift off quietly by himself but now if you try and leave the room he creates!
the last 2 nights running OH has had to stay in the room with him til he falls asleep, and obviously this isnt a habit we want to get into
i have no idea whats changed! i thought maybe hes hit that age where hes scared of being alone? he has a little night light on his end of the monitor, and im going to put a radio on for him tonight to see if that makes a difference.... any other suggestions?Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

hehe I am and never have been a morning person, my mum used to have to literally drag me out of bed and dress me for school then push/pull me down stairs and sit me with a bowl of shreddies until I was about 10! if she didn't I would have just got back in to bed0

i wish i was more outgoing to do things like this, i havent even been back to the mom and baby group
too much competition and made me feel quite left out as elliot was youngest there and couldnt do much.
I started going to my baby time group when Celia was about four weeks and we hardly miss a week now! I took a good while to settle in though and get chatting to the mums there. I think it helps that the group is specifically for under ones tbh :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Hello *pops head round the door in a nervous fashion*
Well, I'm due to give birth to my first child asap (due date is tomorrow  ) and hoped you could give me some advice. I devour books and have read a billion pregnancy ones, but realised that hubby and I don't have a reference style book for a baby once it arrives! My local library didn't have anything of any use and wondered if you could recommend anything???
I have experience of young babies (I used to nanny) but it's a bit out of date and hubby has NO experience at all!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Hello, r.mac! Nice to see you on the other side! Hope Lemon Bump arrives soon
.
Did your MW give you a green and purple pregnancy book? There is another one too called 'Birth to Five' which my HV gave to me not long after Poppy was born. I use that as a reference (all my other baby books are in the loft) and also ask the lovely Mums on this thread - oh, and google too! :T.
I'm sure the other Mums will be along soon with other suggestions .
Hope you're feeling well.

shes dressed before breakfast?!!!! my goodness you're like wondermum and she must be sooo good not to get breakfast everywhere
Wondermum.... not sure about that :rotfl:.... it's just easier to get her to put the clothes on before she's left the bedroom and gone downstairs - I try to do everything in the most logical order. The hardest part is trying to prise her out of bed in the first place. I usually send Izzy in to annoy her for a while before I go in and turn the big light on and whip the duvet off0 -

Hi rmac,
I didn't really bother with books after birth, just made do with the Bounty pack books which are quite useful, but I did like Miriam Stoppard's Pregnancy and Birth book and the What to expect when you are expecting book during the pregnancies. They both have books for the first years which might be worth a look. Miriam Stoppard here and What to expect here.
Hope everything goes well for you, not long now!0 -
Keely could your mum/sister/friend go with you to act as your "wingman"? at least then you don't need to worry about coping with a sick attack on ur own or having no one to talk to
I also agree if you go to a group that is singing then there tends to only be 5mins of freetime the rest is structured with no time to chat so hopefully someone will approach you at the end or just complement one of the other mums on the outfit their child is wearing - they'll be your best friend in seconds then
a friend has told me today there is a mom+baby coffee morning starting soon at a local church hall and has offered to come with me (shes got an 11 month old).....would be a start.
also theres a meet up in merryhill on tuesday mornings-have been offered to go with someone else ive recently met on a moms net site...may take the offer up (got nurse appointment next tuesday though sadly).
im not sure about going back to the surestart one though-somethings bugging me about that.
keely.
ps i hate talking about things/how i feel though, as people keep asking me if i could have post natal depression-but i know i don't.Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -

My Mam bought me that one when I was expecting Joshua and I found it really good.
James read it when I was expecting Charlotte. He came to a midwife appointment with me as he wanted to hear her heartbeat, and the midwife nearly fell over he started babbling on about fundal heights and my uterus and stuff :rotfl:a friend has told me today there is a mom+baby coffee morning starting soon at a local church hall and has offered to come with me (shes got an 11 month old).....would be a start.
