Possible 5p-10p/litre petrol discount

Just signed up.
Money off sure beats the 1 point per litre I get with Shell Pluspoints.
Hopefully the national chain is Shell as they run the 2 closest garages to me.
I could then get plus points on top with a card then the Shell Visa on top.
mmmm

Thank you to everyone for signing up and to Martin for your support. Fuel prices have come down a little recently but they are still far too high and we still pay more for our petrol than just about anyone else in Europe. The website - https://www.pipelinecard.org - doesn't need you to give us a load of personal info - just minimum contact details so we can keep you up to date and, soon hopefully, send you your card.
Pipeline is free to join and I assure you that, if enough people join, the scheme will work and everyone will benefit.

I can't believe that this thing will ever get off the ground. The figures quoted do NOT make sense.
There is not sufficient margin available in current retail petrol prices to give a discount of "5p-10p per litre" per the Pipeline Card site.
The retail petrol price, after knocking off tax etc., is hardly anything - in Feb 2005 it was around 21p according to independent research: http://www.exxonmobil.co.uk/files/PA/UK/uk_pump_prices.pdf (PDF - don't bother if you don't have Acrobat). And that's before taking off the actual cost of procuring and refining the fuel.
The gross margin is less than 5 pence per litre but somehow Pipeline Card is going to rebate 5p-10p per litre after covering its own administrative costs? And the "major fuel company" is going to do this for no profit at all? Get real, in both regards.0 -
ive registered too............
Good Luck BEN:ASexy_fufu:A0 -
Thanks for the info but...
If the fuel company/ garage chain were happy to sell petrol for 5 - 10p a litre less why wouldn`t they just do that anyhow and have a queue of people a mile long at each station . Surely they couldnt care less if people had a card or not as long as they had 50 quid to pay for fuel.
Please dont take this as a complaint , I honestly just don`t understand. On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -

maybe not but it would have taken you less time to sign up and hope it does than to search the net for details of it being impossible and type up your post.0
