I was told that my change of accommodation entiltement from marriage was not for service reasons and that is why i did not get it

My Wife and myself moved into our first married quarter last month on marrage. Both lived in the block here, Wife put in a DA claim on JPA as house is in her name and claim went through, £1024 being paid in her Sept pay.

Just wondering whether I can get this payment backdated. I moved in 2005 and wasnt entitled to DA, coming up to my final move now and not entitled to it, 7 years service. Anyone know any loop hole to help with my removals??

I'll try and explain it simply:

Ignore what used to be...this is how it stands today..

If you get married and move into a MQ you are not entitled to DA for this move.

Once you are married you are entitled to claim DA for each posting (regardless of whether you live in MQ's or privately)

If you need a 3 bed quarter and have to move from your 2 bed as you have had more children, you will get DA as your accom entitlement has changed

I'm sure there are more circumstances, but thats basically the jist...and of course don't forget that singlies can claim too...

That's just it you do though! I know when the regiment moved in here and had just got married they got full DA and payed removals. That's what i have been trying to say! When people get married and move to a new posting around the same time they do get it. This was this year around June time when the new regiment moved in.

Only say someone got married now where the regiment have been here 6 months they would not get it then because they call that a mid term move.

You can only claim if it's a new posting not a mid term move. So say if you got married and then you got posted you can claim
    New postings only!!!

Hi all! I'm really confused now reading this thread  We have got a mid-term move coming up due to the fact i'm pregnant with our 4th child, does the above mean we cannot claim DA because it's not a new posting? Many thanks for your advice.

It depends on the size of the MQ you are already in...

What have you got at the mo and are you married to an officer or not?

We've got a 3 bed currently and he's a Cpl. Does rank matter when it comes to this situation then?

    OMQ's are slightly different.

You will get removals and DA for your move.
