Great 'Comping' Hunt. How to win competitions

  • I don't know whether this research is for the TV show, or just the newsletter, but I think it would be rather misleading to imply that if you enter lots of comps you're likely to furnish your house and travel the world. This is definitely not likely, and it's much better to approach comping as a fun hobby with any (usually small) wins being seen as a bonus. :)

Enter local competitions in newspapers as you have a better chance of winning.

Not when they get posted online and hundreds around the country enter :undecided

  • Use of roboform helps big time. Not having to type your address in everytime gives you more valuable comping time.

But I agree with others, trying to dec your house out is a bit unrealistic.
I do it for the fun of being on here, and watching the postie in the morning to see what goodies he has brought.
We've already warned our new postie I do comps!:rotfl:

You don't always win, but when the wins do come it's great.
And it often allows you to do things you would never have done.
I won a break at Champneys and had a fab time and there is no way I could of afforded that by myself.

Actually edit to add, always look out for comps when shopping.
Loads of flyers in various supermarkets for different comps, and products are always holding competitions.
So if a certain cereal has a comp on I will buy that one instead of my usual one.
  • Always pick up the free postcards at the cinema and bookshops - I got told to take a handful this morning at Borders 'cos they had thousands lol - I personally think theres more chance with postal comps as folks seem to prefer the easier internet option
Happy with any wins this year :A

My guess would be that someone wants to put a section in one of Martins tv appearances about comping again and they want to use all our experience and knowledge to try to help others get a leg up when we all know there isn't really one, it's just a case of put in the hours and hope you get lucky :)

I agree, sorry MSEJenny but all the info you need is already readily on here, thanks to VelvetGlove

  • Shhhhhh! Don't go on telly and tell the UK about our little community - it'll vastly reduce everyone's chances of winning anything !
