Just correcting myself, it's the aluminium content, not the alcohol content in the anti-perspirant that reacts with the skint to cause the yellow marks.

An interesting article here from the US talking to Proctor & Gamble

Apparently they will give you advise on stains, and possibly replace damaged clothes if the stains won't come out!

if you have this problem - it may be you suffer from hyperhydrosis - overactive sweat glands. you can get a roll on you wear at night for a week and it helps this problem. you can get it from the gp or a pharmacist without prescription. one of the products is called driclor.

Not sure if this is the best place for this....please, point me to the right board, if not!

I have a white shirt. It is still in perfect condition except it has yellowing arm pits, from sweat, deodarant, whatever it is that causes it to go like that...

Anyone recommend a method to get rid of this or is it a hopeless task?

    Thanks

Soak it in white vinegar. Honest.

It fades it - so depending on how yellow it is, it might work.

    Hi mum2many,

There's an earlier thread that has some suggestions that may help so I'll add your post to it to keep the ideas together.

    Hello all

Not on this board often, but thought it was the place most likely to be able to help!

I have a few white sleeveless tops (including some gym tops) where yellowy sweat stains are starting to appear around the armpit areas, and on the straps in the case of gym tops, which means I've stopped wearing them! I've used vanish sprays and things before putting them in the wash but it appears to make no difference whatsoever.

Can anyone recommend a really simple way of getting rid of stains like this? Some of the tops are delicate(ish) fabrics, and some are hardcore gym wear!

Many thanks if anyone has any advice - brand or homemade remedies welcome, as long as they work! :)

I think there are several threads on this if you search.

However I have found that if one hot wash doesn't work nothing will.

One thing that has come out of the discussions is that less is more with deoderant - there are even suggestions that it can be the deoderant that causes the marks.

    Good luck /
