I've found napisan to be very good. I've only used it on whites though - I don't know if it could have a bleaching effect on colours.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • I slosh sone vinegar on the part of the fabric that is stained and then sprinkle bio wash powder and bicarb of soda, it bubbles up and froths away, When its had chance to do its thing, I stick it in the wash.

Hello, This sounds more disgusting that it really is, but I have a few white and light coloured cotton shirts that have developed very slight armpit stains from sweat and deodorant over the months! They are washed after every use, but still the slight yellow tinge never gets removed.

Is there any product or OS household chemical I can use to bring back the white?! Do I need Shane Richy or Danny Baker to help get that whiter than white look?

I would really like to know the answer to this too - I went to put a white shirt on ebay yesterday and then noticed it has marks. I'm sure I remember seeing something to do with vinegar but could not find the thread.
  • I don't know how to remove the stains but I do know how to avoid them in the first place - don't use spray on deodorant! Since I change to roll on I haven't had this problem.

Not necessarily, sleepy-lady! OH uses roll on and all his work shirts develop these stains, which I've not found any cure for. His stains also make the material stiffer, but he swears that he gives the deoderant time to dry so I'm completely at a loss.

I also suffer with the same problem - so much that Gillette gave me a refund on one of their dryness promises!

Gillette suggested that I individually soak each affected top overnight in citric acid.
I found that two tablespoons of citric acid crystals dissolved in half a washing-up bowl of water does the trick and it's best to leave it as long as possible - although it does tie-up your bowl/sink.
A quick wash afterwards and it's almost as good as new!

I have this problem too, and I waste so many tops because of it. If they are plain white, I put them in a bath with a little bleach to try and whiten them again, but I am too scared to do this to any with colour. I think I read somewhere that it was to do with your body's reaction to alcohol in the deodorant. I think in the U.S. there is an alcohol free deodorant that you can buy from the pharmacist, but not over here. (It was a while ago that I looked this up so I might not have all my facts straight!)
