OMG, like, Daddy is selling the business!!! OMG, how will i buy my Prada, etc etc etc........How can he do this to us?

It's your father's business and he can do what he likes with it. Perhaps this is the kick up the backside you need and is a lesson to fend for yourself. If i really must give helpful advice (and i really don't have any sympathy at the minute). I would look at you and your hubby buying the full/into the business and giving it a go yourselves. Sounds like an ideal situation to be in.

You could even get it at a discount price and offer daddy an executive/over viewer position so he can golf/holiday etc, but still be able to keep an eye on his life's work.

Spolit brat, welcome to the real world!!

I was offered a firm job in the USA many years ago. The employer was very high profile in the area, a poor part of the deep south. he was popular locally as he was the second largest employer in the town and he offered various social projects paid out of company money.

I think that they were using the case that they really wanted to take me on in pr as an Englishman would add to the companies credibility. Yep me, adding to someones credibility lol!

is there any need to be so nasty? fdair enough the OP might be living in a dream world, fair enough she might not understand that US immigration is not as flexible as the likes of say Canada, Australia etc. Who can blame OP for having a dream for a better life? Isnt that what we all want?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

You think that is nasty? More like a wake up call. If you want me to put into pink, fluffy pc speak then i can. But the underlying message will be the same.

Get off your a$$, fend for yourself and stop relying on hand outs.

If you think this one is good, try her other thread. You couldn't make it up, or could you?

No not just you. It's either someone trolling or someone with a complete lack of intelligence and common sense. Maybe both.

Sadly I think it's the latter! Or at least there's considerably more evidence pointing towards that rather than the former! :p
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.
  • I didn't have to do all that... I just had to marry a brit, pay $500, and check "no" to questions like "Are you are terrorist?" and "Have you ever committed acts of genocide?"

The whole thing took less than a week.

That doesn't give you permanent status, though. You usually get a 2 year spouse visa, and just before that expires, you need to apply for indefinite leave to remain. To get either visa, you need to show you are in a genuine relationship, are married, have met, intend to live together as husband and wife, have suitable accommodation available, and can maintain yourselves without access to public funds. To get ILR, you need to show in addition that you've passed the "Life in the UK" test.

Applying from another developed country is, in practice, far easier than applying from, say, Pakistan or India.

You are correct DFC that all countries have immigration control, except the good old UK, just strap yourself to a truck axle, endure a bumpy ride in the channel tunnel, jump off at the other end and tell them you are going to be murdered in your country of origin. And then as if by magic, 3 bed council house and whole list of benefits come your way..

Don't be so daft. It it all worked like that, I'd be out of a job!
