Incorrect, your are talking about working while on a tourist visa.

This will lead to you and your OH being arrested and deported.

You will then never be allowed back in to the states again, you will have made their watch list.

I hate to sound brutal but it sounds to me like you have got your head in the sand. As many others have said it would be almost impossible to secure a green card and all that upheaval to move for six months only to come back again. I really do think your best bet would be facing the problem head on and finding a job over here.

my hubby works for mt dad and he wants to sell up .
so my hubby will be out of work. we have a morage and will lose our house.

Your father should make your hubby redundant if he employed him (as opposed to your hubby being a partner. My OH and I have recently sold our restaurant. We employed my son and d-i-l. I think we were legally obliged but we were certainly morally obliged to give them redundancy pay - 1 week for each complete year of their employment is the norm laid down by the government (although your father could opt to pay more). Your father should pay this, it will be paid through his business when he sells up.

That at least will help you financially until your hubby can find something else.

    good point Tomsmom

Also, lets not panic, if he sells the business, the new owner might want to keep your OH on, this has happened to my dada a few times and also to one of my best mates hubbys who worked in a family business.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • You really need to be very careful. As all the OP's have said you need money(lots of it), an occupation that will perhaps enable you and your family to gain legal access to the States. Simply wanting something really isn't good enough. If it was this site would not have a DFW board. Also lets just say you do go ahead with your "master plan", and go over on a tourist visa you it is likely that you will eventually get found out.Is "looking over yourshoulder all the time REALLY worth it?What price peace of mind? Also how will you pay back the money you plan to borrow to fund your move?

It can take 18 months to get a Green Card and they will revoke it if you keep coming back to the UK.
