  • Eeek i wish I'd seen this thread before chosing to part with over 100 dvds with them! They've valued them at £65...now wondering if I will get that full amount or not :-/

As it goes for courier service - Hermes arrived on the morning of my pickup date to take the boxes away so I didn't have any problems there. I've just checked my account with MM and it says they haven't received the goods yet (but they were only picked on on Saturday so maybe it takes a week?!)

Opted a bacs transfer for the money - Will have to keep you updated whether A) I get the full amount B) I actually get the money in my bank!

  • terrible service, terrible company, absolute conmen. they said items were not sent, when i knew i had sent them. they said items were damaged when they were not. they offered no help when i contacted them, the just repeated the scripted replies. i contacted them on their Facebook page and the same thing happened until they just ignored my messages. they are a joke, do not use them. they only thing they got right was their mascot, a bird renowned for stealing shiny valuables.
  • Far too slow, still waiting for 90 quid cheque after 6 weeks.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

AVOID MUSIC MAGPIE AT ALL COSTS!!!

First of all - they are a collectibles dealership. It takes a former collectibles dealer to spot another one a mile off.

It is run by people who offer you pennies to acquire rare items that seemingly don't appear to them when sent. CD's, DVD's, Blu-Ray's - it is a collectors paradise - and it is dealer/collectibles traders running the show at MM.

A friend of mine had sent them numerous rare/collectible items that he was originally going to sell to me (e.g: The Associates - Singles 2CD / Dawn of the Dead Limited Edition BR etc. - both still sealed/mint) and of those two listed above were supposedly not received. The other ones he sent of slightly lesser value (£5-£15) were listed as damaged, even though they were near mint and protected when sent.

Due to you posting these items - you have no proof that they receive them and you aren't covered if they say they are supposedly "damaged".

The rarer CD's/DVD's/BR's are then sold on Ebay and other sites by them for 800% profit and higher.

ALWAYS CHECK WHAT YOU HAVE against Ebay or Amazon. You may not get the dealers prices most of the time these days - but you'll get far more than you would if you used MM.
  • I sent my items to Music Magpie on 11th Jan 2014, it took 2 weeks for them to arrive and when they did I received an email to tell me that several items were missing(items of value!) I replied advising that all items were together and they had lost them; I heard nothing. I sent 3 emails still nothing after 5 days, but by checking my account it said they were processed!

I eventually received an email saying I needed to process my banking details this was over a week ago, so I did. Every day I checked for the money- nothing. Eventually 5 days later another email saying I needed to verify again my bank details, so I did it but emailed saying what is going on, no reply, I still have no money and this was 3 days ago! It is now 33 days sent the parcels were sent. Other than automated emails they have never properly replied to my emails.

Please avoid at all costs Ebay is miles better!

eBay is better for the CDs/DVDs which are actually worth something.

If the Media you want to sell is currently on amazon for less than £2, than it's not worth selling as you won't make much (if anything).

Is that actually the case with all the fees

Can't believe how high they are now
  • I should a few of the old ones of mine, great for clearing some space but they do give you peanuts.
  • Having viewed this thread I am now very worried having sent off my two month old iPad mini this morning to Musicmagpie. They offered me £130 and I would expect that full amount as the iPad is in full working order with no scratches; I sold it as I desperately need the money, more than the iPad which I barely use.

The thing is my iPad is "space gray" and apparently Apple started selling the first gen iPad minis in this colour circa last October. On Musicmagpie there was only an option for "black" or "white" and I went for "black". Wondering now whether MM will keep my iPad and tell me it's the incorrect item or something :S

If that happens I will most definitely start a claim against them.

I just had an annoying experience with music magpie!! Sent them 2 orders, one of DVD's and one of clothes. Both sent by Collect+ at exactly the same time. A week or so later I get an email saying the DVDs have been received, however over a month on and apparently the clothes box has still not been received. Stupidly we managed to lose the Collect+ receipt as we moved house since however I saw a barcode number on the freepost label they emailed me so thought I would try that as it could also have been used as the tracking number. Enter both barcode numbers into Collect+ tracking and surprise surprise both come up as being received by Music Magpie on 14th Feb! So I get in contact with them about the missing box and I get completely fobbed off with them saying that's not the tracking number you need to call us back when you find your receipt. Which ok may be a fair enough response but they were really rude and unhelpful about it. She did say it is easier to deal with if I had the other number which makes me think she could have dealt with my enquiry using the barcode number that I did have but just chose not to! So basically I just have to forget about the other box! What else is funny is that one of the DVDs I submitted was rejected and the reason was recorded as wrong barcode given, however I used their barcode scanner app to scan all the DVD barcodes... I didn't enter them myself or just do a general search for the title or anything, so not really sure what happened there!!
