Part of the Furniture 100 Posts Combo Breaker Mortgage-free Glee!
I've had two packages that have "got lost in the post" now. One for £22ish and one for £29ish. I got proof of postage for both and made claims to Royal Mail. The first claim has come back rejected today saying I should ring them. Rang RM customer services who told me that they are placing claims to this freepost address on hold for the time being. Not sure who to be more annoyed with - Royal Mail or Music Magpie. I post a lot of stuff as part of my business and hardly anything goes missing so I am a little dubious that RM has lost TWO packages to the same address. So I would approach Music Magpie with caution. I am gutted to have lost £50 - I would rather have sold the CDs on Amazon for slightly more hassle.
    On a mission.

Wow - thats rubbisg brila :( , am sorry to hear that. ....No one need answer my query on whether the Magpie sites are working today, as i'm not going to touch them with a barge pole now! Used them once last year and they were fine - maybe they are snowed under as everyone is trying to earn more money these days? Either way, it sucks. :(

id make sure you send the items recorded to them

as for sending games - i always use https://www.tradeyourstuff.co.uk for trading in games as their turnaround period was quicker than when i used musicmagpie and their prices are much better.

Just adding my thumbs up for MusicMagpie.

Posted in another thread wondering aloud where the cheque had got to (was posted into a different flat and they were on holiday). So, posted big parcel on 14th July, cheque is dated 23rd. For the full amount expected.

Thanks to JumboJuice for the games trading site recommendation.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Just wondering what titles are fetching the highest prices

    Mine so far are

Alexander Oneal - This Thing Called Love £1.24
The Saw Doctors - If this is rock and roll I want my old job back - £2.25
Jaki Graham - Breaking away £2.86

Checked the bottom two on Amazon, the Jaki Graham one is priced at £25.00 used!

If those are your best prices, I dread to think what the worse ones were.

Suppose it's better than throwing stuff away though

Signed into the site today and my order has changed from pending to completed so hopefully cheque will be here soon :)
  • I love music magpie, I always have additional CD's due to the job I do, I can't keep all of them so this is an awesome way of making extra money.

They can sometimes be slow, but I've always chased them up with an email and got there in the end, I believe 4-5 weeks was the longest i've waited for my cheque.

Regarding sending your parcels ALWAYS get proof of delivery, you can claim through Royal Mail if they get lost but it takes ages. MM told me one of my parcels had got lost, and unfortunately I thrown the proof of postage away, my own fault, so I thought i'd basically lost £100, luckily it was just slow going through and eventually turned up, so perhaps contact them if your unsure.

Regarding the labels for returns, providing your labels state R1 on them you can post up to 20kgs, my post office told me I couldn't do this, so I complained to MM and they contacted the local post office to advise them that they needed to update information their end and parcels would be accepted. After this I had no problem.

Apart from sometimes waiting a little longer for cheques, I really can't fault this company, its a great idea, and im sure they're making good money as an overstock company too.
  • I have heard a lot about Music Magpie but does anyone know where I can buy their second hand cds / dvds / games etc...? They say they sell them on their website but I can't find any.

A few members in the thread have commented that they sell them on Amazon, does anyone know their Amazon seller name??

    thanks.
  • I have just traded 4 CDs, 6 DVDs and 4 Wii games on Music Magpie (all of which were totally unwanted and of zero value to me) for 33 quid! I am very impressed with that as I thought they were all worthless.

The fact that you don't even have to register or pay for postage is a complete bonus that makes it way better than sites like e-bay.

Thanks Martin for recommending this, I will certainly be spreading the word!

Id recommend musicmagpie for cds and dvds as there arent any alternatives

BUt for video games, they pay very low prices compared to tradeyourstuff.co.uk and even less than the high street shops..
