Wowsers, bit overdue on the old update!!! I knew being back at work would be busy, but man alive.....

Ok, where are we now? Well, managed to get credit card down to £106 at the weekend (which by my standards is flippin brill in such a short space of time!!!) Total ebay sales were £110, but cos my paypal account is in my maiden name, i gotta faff about sending marriage certificate and passport to get to it!!! Now, that wouldn't be a huge problem, but...

...DH and I have decided to go away for a few days for a much needed chill (personal reasons) and we're off to visit our friend in amsterdam...so, i cant send my passport away cos i need it, and now my credit card is back up to £437 :o to cover flights and accommodation (cant stay with friend cos of logistics). I know we shouldn't be spending the pennies, but we've had one hell of a year, and it's gonna get tougher, so few days away is needed for the soul!!!

But, the balance will be at £0 by 23rd Oct, which is still good, but i was hoping to hammer the savings then to gear us up for our mortgage change in Feb.

Speaking of which - starting to feel a tad anxious about whether or not we'll be able to get one due to the current climate. I could pay my credit card off sooner with my agreed O/D and money owing to me from gas supplier (ooo, now that was a nice surprise - £275 rebate!!!) but i dont want to go into my O/D in case the mortgage company use it against me.

I've managed to earn myself a nice £10 boots voucher from pigsback which will keep me going for some toiletries, and we're currently up to £98 of our £150 food budget, and have one week to go!!!! We'd be more under budget but DH had a go at meal planning and shopping - forgot to plan, tried to buy from memory, and we have no end of spuds, tinned toms and not alot else!!!! He's officially sacked from those duties!!!! tell you what though, i have never eaten so well since we've started meal-planning, and i've even lost a bit of weight! (mind you, that could be work...)

Got a couple of gigs at the weekend, so that'll help too, although some of it will be going towards our first anniversary meal - i'm so excited about that (it's gone so quick!)

Ok, i've bored you all enough! I'm off to lurk!

Lots of love to you guys, and hope all is going well in the land of MFW's!!!

Have a good time in amsterdam - is it soon you're going?

Meal planning really makes a difference doesn't it? Have you learned the joy of lentils yet?

    heya peeps!

many thanks for your support, i love this board!!!! :T Off to the 'dam in half term, so just over two weeks away. I've been before in my younger days, but my DH has never been, and with us having friends out there now, it just kinda made sense for a (relatively) cheap break - we could probably find somewhere sunny for cheap, but i've got gigs the weekend before and after, so mid week for a few days it is.

I love lentils! (i get so excited by the smallest things...lol!) DH turns his nose up at them, but once cooked and nicely flavoured, he soon forgets!!! lol

i'm off to have a nosey now in your diaries, lol, see you there x x x x

Amsterdam is a great place to stay for a city break, and don't feel guilty about the spend; we all need to get some R&R so simply think of this in your budget next year as a necessity not nice to have.

Of course, you'll get the best Indonesian meals outside of Indonesia itself; we had our holiday in Amsterdam when OH was pregnant 10yrs ago as we were not sure about travel etc. Popped into a very well rated restaurant on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, just south of the Soffitel. We were delayed waiting for our table, treated well, but even better when chatting to the owner and explaining I'd been to Jakarta, Surabya etc. Just like here where few of us have been to South Asia yet we love "Indian" cuisine, similarly in The Netherlands few have been to Indonesia.

    Enjoy the city and relax
  • Hiya peeps, update time....

Will have credit card payed off by the end of the week.....wahooooooo!!!! v chuffed - finally! Must admit, it's been a tough target to pay it off in the shortest amount of time, but feels nice i'm nearly there :D

    But.

Bloody car's died. again. Looking at between £500 - £1,000 for repairs. This is not in the MF plan!!!!

    And.

Our house has been valued at £12,000 under what we wanted / thought. Granted, i know we're not in a good time, but we'd already accounted for 12% decrease. So, our £200 valuation is now worthless as we can't get the mortgage we wanted.

So. Back to the drawing board. Gotta try and find a mortgage. Luckily, we've got til Feb, but even so, i like to be organised!!!!

Hope all is well with you guys,

Yay and congratulations :j  :T

Poor car. sometimes they seem more troble than they're worth!

You're trying to remortgage? (sorry if I missed that:o ) Least Feb gives you time to get nice and organised. Fingers crossed that you find a good deal.

    WA - HOO!!!!! FANFARE FANFARE!!!!!

I DID IT!!!! PAID OFF MY CREDIT CARD IN 7 AND A HALF WEEKS!!!!!!! WA-HOO!!!!

ok, all very dramatic, i know, but it does feel good to have paid back nearly £2K!!!!

and, on the car front, it may (only) cost £300!!!! And, guess what.....i can afford that and not have to put it on my credit card!!!!

I feel so very proud bless me! The only way in the past i have ever paid off such a big credit card bill has been to get another loan!!!!

Ok, so now, need to tackle the £3,800 loan...then i can start OP mortgage!!!! (i feel a bit like a cheat on this board as i haven't actually made any OP's yet, been trying to kill off higher interest debts!)

TTFN, i need a celebratory voddie!!!!
