I haven't yet got myself a slowcooker but have loads of things I want to cook in them!! Ie Turkey drumsticks....can I convert my oven in some way?? I've heard that Turkey drumsticks are really tough if roasted!!

    Gertie,

I don't know if you could maybe poach it in stock or do it in a casserole type of way with tomatoes onions mushrooms and herbs and cook for a couple of hours? Just an idea, it might work!!

  • Hi can anyone please tell me the name of the teenage boy who wrote a series of recipe books aimed at teens?
I remember reading about the books on here as a few OSers had bought them for their kids, and I decided to buy them for my DS's, but as ever when I go to buy I can't remember the name.
    Thanks in advance,
    MrsB.

I'm making this pumpkin pie recipe but it says to steam the pumpkin in a steamer and I don't have one. Anyone got an alternative?

Colander over a saucepan with a lid/cover over the top? Or boil and simmer in a little water, topping up as necessary. Steaming takes longer.

I have some new boots where the leather needs softening around the toes, anyone have any tips? They fit great all over except for the bit around the base of my toes where its just a little bit snug ATM, I know they'd be fine if I could just soften them somehow:rolleyes:

Is there anything in this thread - stretching leather

Thank you so much! I'm off to see whether I can juggle things enough to get my boots in the freezer... they're mid-way boots so it could prove interesting. If it works I'll be doing it with all my new shoes I've bought for placement! :D:D Maybe then I can smarten myself up a bit more instead of just wearing workman boots or trainers :o

Can someone please tell me the website where you type in what food you have and then it figures out a meal for you?

Edit: Found it, its cooking by numbers! :)
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
