    Thanks for all the replies.
From what you have all said I will just cook enough for today and keep the other portions in the fridge for a few days before finishing.
I have made bubble and squeak cakes with mash and cabbage but tbh I was not overly keen on them!
    Thanks

I've made parsnip and apple soup...put it in the freezer...and when hubby tried some he said that it was too 'appley' and tasted like apple sauce! It tasted fine before I froze it though.
Any suggestions as to do what to do with it when I use it to make it taste better? I don't really want to get rid of it all .... it's individually portioned by the way.
    Thanks

I add ginger to mine, and a dash of cream just before serving.

The main difference between gold and silver are that silver will tarnish where gold won't ;)

If you have a coal fire, you could hold the ring in the smoke - silver will tarnish; gold won't. Take the ring from the smoke after a few minutes; soot will rub off, but if it's silver, the tarnish (silver sulphide, as you ask :p ) won't - you'll need silver dip.

Coal contains sulphur, and as it burns this makes sulphur dioxide which will tarnish the ring quickly.

Maybe not what you're after, but the best I could come up with, other than a jeweller :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
