I never bother - just put mine on the turntable and nuke till soft. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

No they just need stabbing with a fork, i put mine on a plate as there are taty juices that come out, you don't need a lid unless you haven't stabbed the skin first or else they will explode. Also they cause a lot of condensation in my nuclear oven, maybe you might want a lid for the steam.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

I wrap mine in kitchen roll then put them straight on the turntable.0

I stab mine several times with a fork and put them on turntable - nuke until NEARLY done then finish on a baking sheet in the oven ( I like a crisp skin and you dont get that in the microwave).0

Quick question: can you over-soak bean and pulse soup mix stuff?
Basically yesterday I was looking to bulk out the stew I'll be cooking tonight so I bought a pack of dry mix. I read the instructions to soak 8-12 hours but my brain didn't register that putting them to soak at 6pm last night would be nearly 24 hours before I was to cook them... not 12. So this morning I've rinsed them, and they are sat in the sieve. Shall I pop them in the fridge till tonight, or just put them back to soak? Or cook them and cool them, and add them to the stew tonight? Don't want to give everyone food poisoning....!0 -
Hi Gazing On Sunsets,
Probably too late for you, but I'd have given them a good rinse and stored in the fridge until you were ready to use them. Either way, you're unlikely to poison anyone.

Thank you! That's what I've done! Just glad to hear I won't kill people. I worry about things like under cooked kidney beans and stuff. Having spent 2 1/2 weeks in hospital with gastro enteritis, I don't want to wish that on anyone...Pink-winged wrote: »Hi Gazing On Sunsets,

I have some cans of tuna dated 2005, do you think that would be pushing it? I haven't really had much to do with fish, but is it still likely I'd recognise it being off? the wonders of the back of my store cupboard.0
